Water Tank Specs off??

Avalanche 365MB got new in Aug21

Specs say it has a 66gal fresh water tank.
Got one of those “Save-A-Drop” water meters.
Was flushing the fresh water tank until it went out the side overflow vent.
34gals was all that went in before it flowed out.
OK thought maybe water meter is off…..
Dead on when filling a 5gal bucket.
Anyone else come across this before?

FW capacity includes water heater

Next it's common to have an air lock when filling rapidly.

Shake the trailer and try filling slowly.

Deduct water heater gallons from the 66. In my case it is 12 gallons.

Hard to shake a 40ft 5th wheel on its jacks.
Also water heater is already filled from site water source
All I am doing is throwing the switch to the fill position when connected
to external city water.

And fill gauge says full when at 31 gals and says 1/3 at around 11gals.

Javi's post is correct. Keystone includes wh in total fw capacity. FW tank may not empty completely.

Got a little time and are serious about your 'problem?' Drain your fresh water tank through your low point drain. Completely refill the tank again using the water meter, and slow the fill at the 25 gallon mark and continue until it starts to overflow. Raise the auto-level jacks at the rear and stand inside and rock the RV a little. Yes, you can, believe me.
Return outside and start your water flow slowly again until it overflows. This time you are done filling.
Put your five gallon bucket under the blue low point drain and empty the tank completely five gallons at a lick and get back to us. It looks like 50-54 gallons should be the answer.

Water heater volume STILL counts as volume of FW tank.

I thought you'd be smart enough to figure out what was meant by shaking.

Gages on these things are about as accurate as a three year old telling you how many miles it is to grandma's house.

Once you've added water to the FW tank it's near impossible to completely empty it again, not unlikely to have 2-5 gallons in it still.
We had the FW filled when bought new, opened drain, 2 months later if parked at different angles would still get water draining slightly.
And the gauges, Javi's analogy is perfect for ALL of those sensors, black, grey & fresh.

My travel trailer is suppose to have 45 gallon fresh water capacity. I called Keystone this morning, they said my trailer has 37 gal capactiy (ie: 31 gal tank and 6 gal for water heater). I asked when Keystone RV is going to fix the capacity deficiency. Keystone RV declined "participation". Keystone RV's position is: there is no defect and the current system functions as designed.

If you read the fine print... they reserve the right to make changes to the trailers as they see fit..

I agree the brochure says product information is as accurate as possible. I have multiple brochures with different publication dates, each says the same 45 gal fresh water capacity. Seems to me, Keystone RV has maintained a consistent pattern of providing misleading and deceptive information to their buyers for years.
