First camp in new Raptor 352 - heat question

Hello,

Finally made it out to an actual campground to actually camp!

Had one semi-major issue on our first night. The kids sleep on the bunk in the garage, and they were FREEZING all night. The whole trailer was pretty cold.

I set the HVAC control on the In Command panel to 68, and the fan came on.

Sounded like the furnace clicked, but it never really got warm. The propane tanks are full, valve is on and working, as the stove had fuel for the flames. There was little to no heat coming through the floor ducts, but air was flowing.

The fan never came on in the garage, though I set it to:

Not sure if the fact that there is no temperature showing in the ‘zone’ field has anything to do with this issue.

Hoping this is something simple that a newbie overlooked. Any advice is appreciated.

PS: sorry the in command pictures are sideways. Couldn’t figure out how to flip them…

In my 351 there are no heater vents in the garage. Well, there is one that looks like a heater vent that originates under the kitchen sink (common wall) but does not push enough air. To heat the garage, we leave the door between the garage and living room open. I also think there is no'fan' for the garage, just the AC. Irregardless of what the InCommand says. Unless it is the fan in the AC unit that it is controlling. Need to be plugged into shore power or generator running to know for sure.

As for the lack of any heat anywhere and the stock seems to be getting propane, sounds like you have a problem with the actual heater igniting....

Forum member Chuck S is one of the guys on here with a lot of knowledge on the iN·command system ..it looks like a sensor issue to me as far as the no show on the monitor although your heat is likely controlled by the front or middle zone ( not sure if you have two or three ac’s) only as far as the gas furnace is concerned ...if you have a heat pump for the garage hvac then that would be different.. I think the consensus is to have a portable heater for the garage.
If you have a straight ac unit for the garage you may be able to get a heat strip for it but not sure if it’s possible or how effective it actually is.

One of these room transfer fans may help..pretty easy to install

If it is like most and you have two ac’s you only have one that provides heat. So only that one will show the set heat temp

If you are on shore power, use ceramic heaters and don't use up all your propane.

First camp in new Raptor 352 - heat question

If I remember correctly on my Fuzion 373 with InCommand, the zone temp only shows up on garage and bedroom when a/c mode is on. The main is what controls heat and we have a duct in garage front wall, feet level. It’s decent amount of flow but not enough on a cold night. We use an electric heater in garage when needed along with the fireplace. I set the furnace a little lower temp than those.

Something else to check is that the InCommand shows the correct model Raptor and how old the software is. My 2020 model was several updates out of date.

My In Command firmware is older too. What did updating do for you?

It just seemed a little glitchy. It seems a lot better now. I emailed ASA and ask them if they had logs that talked about what each update did. They basically said they do not give those out. Did you get yours worked out?

Not yet. I have the updated firmware files, but won't get a chance to attempt the upgrade until Tuesday...

I stand corrected, picked up the camper today to get ready for the next few weeks. The zone temperatures show up regardless if the air conditioner is on. Which now would make me curious to make sure that your model is the correct set up in the display. For all of them to be displaying blank is odd to me. If it is the correct model then I would go to the Incommand website and follow the instructions for resetting everything. If that doesn’t work I will definitely contact them, I have been working with them on a global connect issue and have to say their customer service is outstanding. If they can’t figure it out what they’ll have you do is download your log files and send to them and they will review them.

Definitely use a small standing heater if you are plugged into shore power. We have a toy hauler also and we never use the heat. We just put a small heater in the garage and one in the kitchen area. Keeps the rig perfect and you are not using up your propane and having the noise of the heater clicking on and off.

In Command heat setting

The in command display shows you have selected GAS as the heat source. The gas furnace should be sending heat through the floor vents. It’s quite easy to tell if the gas furnace has ignited by checking the exhaust vent on the exterior of your camper. The 2” opening will have copious amounts of very hot air exiting the opening.
