Power distribution and converter

I have a cougar 25 rbswe 2021 new with a 50 amp service.

Does anyone know how Keystone sets up the power distribution, converter and battery charger. The documentation included with my trailer says I have a WFCO 8930/50 distribution panel, that documentation says those units do not have a converter/charger in them and that function is provided by another device. I however see no mention or manual for that device? I suspect it is located behind the panel somewhere. Any insight ?

The WFCO 8930/50 is just the power center with AC and DC bus and circuit breakers for AC side and fuses for DC side

The converter is stand alone and is wired into the DC side Bus bar to provide 12 volts DC to all systems using DC power AsWell as charging the battery or batteries

This should be your converter...

Link to manuals and info on your converter

Often the converter is mounted behind the stairwell or close by to the power center

Thanks, I suspected something like that by reading the power center docs. I did not find any other info in the pile of manuals about the converter. One of these days I'll remove the power center and see what's behind it.

Since this is a new unit and it sounds like you've got some mechanical and electrical skill sets I strongly recommend you do this with your inside power center as soon as time permits....

1. remove shore power plug and flip battery disconnect off
2. Remove the 4 screws on the power center flip down cover
3. Use a screw driver and check and tighten as needed any loose 120 volt leads to the AC BUS and any loose 12 volt DC leads to the DC BUS

Lately the quality control with the rapid turn out of new units from factory is less than stellar...

Correcting any loose electrical leads in the power distribution center now will prevent headaches later on down the road

I check my electrical panel every spring during my preparation work getting the fifth wheel ready for the season's use

Also while your down looking at the power distro center take note of the ATC fuse amperages plugged in and pick up a spare or two for the RV in case you blow one while out somewhere...

And regarding your converter it also will have either two 40 amp ATC style fuses plugged into the backside of the converter OR depending on your setup these two fuses could also be located inside the power distro center as well

If you blow these two fuses due to inadvertent connecting the battery cable backwards...even for a split second they will blow and the converter will not provide DC power to the RV nor will it charge your batteries...

Food for thought.......

Here's a graphic example of what's "behind the panel". Keep in mind that this is "one of the better looking ones".....
