Water heater out any guesses?
Lost hot water this weekend. Suburban water heater. Worked as usual on electric Friday evening through Saturday morning showers. Saturday afternoon noticed no hot water. Control panel light for electric on. Switched control panel to gas. Could tell it was trying to ignite (smelled a touch of gas out there in this process), but never ignited. Any guesses on what we will find in the repair? I dropped it off on way home today, so not home to check anything out. Hoping to get it back in a week or two to get Labor Day trip in and then some fall trips to a few football games (maybe).

Since issue is both 120VAC and LP modes Id bet that either the remote relay is melted or the control board is bad...

I had the same issue with my 3665RE, I ordered a new water heater and put it in myself. Not too hard to do if you're a patient person. I figured mine was 9 years old, so might as well replace instead of repair. Cost about $800 for a new one.

So the electric element was out but so was the control board? Pretty darn sure we didn’t have it in empty, but it’s possible the DW hit the switch one time and didn’t tell me. But again had hot water for 12 hours before it quit.
So what makes the control board crap out? Had a small overheated area.

Any number of things, and I’ve seen it on new and old boards.

I think the control boards for everything on an RV are just hit or miss. I've had the furnace control boards replaced under warranty on both of my last trailers. The one I currently have was replaced 1 week after I picked it up.
