Hi to all
Getting ready to repack the wheel bearings on my new to me 2010 Montana 3150RL. In the past I have always used the Red high temp grease, is there something better or will that be sufficient ? We are embarking on a 2,000 mile adventure from Delaware to Oshkosh, Wi. in July and want it to go as smoothly as possible. Your thoughts and expertise will be greatly appreciated !!

That's what I use on our 06 Montana. No problems, just make sure you get the bearing packed full and use new properly sized seals. Have fun.

That is funny reading your post. I have a case of this that I use on my tractor. The high-shear staying-power is perfect for front-end loaders and other things with pins and bushings. Never occurred to me to use it on wheel bearings! LOL.

For Dexter grease specs, go to this link, http://www.dexteraxle.com/resources/...ags/Light-Duty , click on Light Duty Hubs Drums and Bearings, and go to page 53 of the pdf, and you can see what Dexter recommends for lubing their bearings.

They are all good for the purposes they were intended. I have used the red stuff for many years. No issues so far.

I fly a tailwheel airplane in Alaska during the summer. Rain, gravel, sand, etc. can be really tough on the tailwheel. A shop up there told me about this grease a number of years ago. Said it was everything one wanted for that application. I tried it and ended up using it on the main gear wheel bearings and then on everything else I have.

It stays in viscosity, resists water, doesn't oil out and has a high Timken load rating. Had a hard time finding it in NV for awhile. TRC even sent me some for free after calling them about a source. Amazon to the rescue. I buy four tubes at a time. I'm sold on the stuff.

Edit: Your box looks old. The Timken rating is now 100.

I always use Mystik JT-6 #2. Growing up my dad always used Mystik on the farm equipment, boat and snowmobile trailers, car/trucks. Never had a problem. I tried Mobil 1 for a while, but got tired of wiping up the puddle of oil on the floor under the grease gun. Back to Mystik and no problems. Best part, I can buy it from the local Autozone. Of course, I can also buy an entire case on line.

Yeah, it is about 6 years old. At the time I couldn't find it online and could only buy from a rep... so I bought a box/case of it.

I used to use my tractor a lot back then, but not so much now.

I gave up on the Mobil 1 grease, too. Surprising how lousy it is considering how good their oil is.
