Omni directional antenna

I am considering a Omni directional antenna. I would like to up-grade from my old crank-up antenna. Would like to hear any pros/cons. Suggested brands? Anyone that has done this change over....what were the problems? If you have one of these .....what is the reception like? Thanks in advance for your help.

I can't speak for the omni, but I did add a Winegard Wingman to my Winegard Sensar batwing antenna. HUGE improvement in the amount of channels I can now receive.

x2 on the Wingman. Money well spent, easy to install, and does what it claims to do.

There is another thread currently running about this type antenna. You might want to read up on his issues and do a bit of research before investing in one.

JMHO, I wouldn't consider the omnidirectional antenna an UP grade.

Went camping last weekend. Just recently added the Wingman to my crank up antenna. Father-in-law had the omnidirectional antenna. I was able to get 7 stations that came in pretty good. Father-in-law was not able to get any stations. He is already talking about getting a dish.

X2 on the wingman. Tv used to be broadcast in VHF and that is what your antenna is capable of picking up. The HD stations are broadcast in UHF that is where the wingman shines. It picks up the UHF HD signals. Our Laredo is parked at my brothers 35 miles north of Pittsburgh and we can pick up more than 40 channels with the antenna. A good upgrade at a minimal cost.

I used the Wingman and the King Digital HDTV replacement head and both work remarkably well. I cant speak for the Omni but for the price, the two mentioned worked awesome for me. I also couple my radio antenna to my TV antenna and pull in a ton of radio stations as well.

The wingman is the way to go.. You can either get the add on attachment..
http://www.amazon.com/Winegard-RV-WI...M0H2KKYMNPRM12
Or you can replace the whole head. This is what we did and it works great, I am pulling in over 40 channels in my back yard..

The one I am considering is the LAVA pro 2015. I have a 2006 Springdale and don't like the crank-up antenna. Thought this would be a good replacement and solve the problem of cranking and turning the antenna.

What problem were you having?

Ha Ha ! Having to crank it up and turn it to get a good signal. Always forgetting to crank it back down. I can't count the times I have stopped folks to tell them their antenna is up as they leave the campground. I put a orange flag on my crank to remind me bu have still driven off with antenna up. Thought if the reception was at the least equal or hopefully better then the change would be worth it. I know there are those of you laughing at this but if you live full time in one of these you look for anything to make life more simple.

I think if they got the reception like the crank ups, they would either be fitted with them or flying off the shelves to people like me. I just haven't read anything good about them besides not having to crank them up.

I'm sure this has a lot to do with location. I've never had much hassle with my omni and get decent reception, although I have admittedly forgotten to crank it back down on occasion
