PPL Motorhomes has shipped at least two that I know of via UPS for $9.99. If you're intent on a BAL (and it is a great option) you might want to check the PPL site and see if their shipping special is still available.

I think I'm going to order the winch, just the winch and get 70" piece of 1"square steel tubing and bolt it between the frame and the rails that hold the sliding bike tray. Then attach the winch to it.

If you do that way have you thought about getting one from a junk yard from a van or a truck?

Bal Carrier

Hey JRTJH I've got a 2014 Cougar 327 and want to install the Bal Carrier. What did you install yours on?You said a cougar and did you put it behind the rear tires where the sideout is.

My Cougar is an XLite, but essentially the frame/spare tire rack is the same on the Cougar or the XLite. I installed the BAL carrier behind the rear axle, about 30". It is the only place where I didn't have anything else to interfere with the installation. If you crawl under your trailer, look at what's installed where and how the carrier would fit, you'll find a couple of "great places" to install it. I had to cut away (modify) the ends of the BAL carrier so it would fit around some of the spars on the framework of the trailer. I was very reluctant to start modifying the trailer, and the BAL carrier was easily "fixed" so it would slip around the spars without affecting either the structural integrity of the trailer or the carrier. You'll need to choose the BAL # 28218 which is the model for I beam trailers with the coroplast covering.

Here are a couple of pictures of my installation. Other members have also installed this carrier with excellent results, possibly they will post with additional pictures and their experiences.

Good Luck with your installation.

Well I don't see how I could install this on my 2012 330RBK. The only place it could go would be right behind the tires. I can get to the I beam on the street side but on the curb side the skirt is wrapped over the I beam.

Did you have any problems drilling the holes, was there any wiring running behind the I-beam,would hate to cut some wires. Did you use bolts & Nuts or self tappers

You could simply turn the end piece on the carrier around and mount it on the inside of the I Beam on that side of the trailer. You'd have to drop the coroplast or possibly just cut it back from the I Beam about 12" and fold it up so you can have room to slip the end piece into the space and install it. Then reattach the coroplast and use Gorilla tape to seal the seams where you cut it.
