suspension

I have a 2011 Ford 250- super duty and I pull a 2011 Montana Mountaineer 326 rl, my question is does anyone have air bags on simular set and how do you like them, as I 'm considering air bags or helper springs, thanks for the information. jons326rl

I pull a 05 Copper Canyon 293 FWSLS, 11.5 to 12K about 2.2K pin I tow level no need for bags, but based on responses to other threads they are on my short list. I will likely get a set of Ride Rights after my PackBrake exhaust brake install.

Ford seems to have soften up the rear on the '11 as compared to my old '01. My trailer has a 2,500 lb pin and the truck squatted more than I liked. I installed Firestone Air Bags and never looked back. It leveled out the truck and firmed up the ride. I couldn't be happier.

I am running Firestone Ride Rite air bags on my truck. I ran them on my old truck for 10 years with no issues. The newer trucks seem to squat much easier due to the longer leaf springs that give the truck a better ride. I went with the bags over the overloads because you can adjust the ride based on load. With overloads you get the same spring stiffness empty and loaded. If you only use the truck to pull, you may want to just go with overloads.

I had the Airlift bags installed when I biught my Alpine 3500re. I really like the way they lift the truck and cushion on bumps.

My only complaint about the airbags is since my F350 is a 4X4 adding air to the bags
makes the rear end of the truck ride even higher. I added the bags when I had a cab
over camper, now that I am back to a TT I could really just remove the bags, not needed.

I have a 2010 F250 and mine sits a bit. I was thinking of adding another leaf or helper or something. The guy that owned the truck before me had a 5er, I have the holes in the bed and can see some marks on the chassis where it looks like a bracket once was. Thinking of sending it out to Palmer spring in Prov. RI.

I have air bags on my 02 Excursion and love the fact that you can adjust the ride height based on the weight you are hauling. But the down side to the air bags is air. Because air does not readily compress much when you are utilizing the air bags the ride is harsher. It has made towing much better by removing a lot of the sway and droop I had prior to adding them but when not towing even with the 5 psi recommended by the mfg when not using them for leveling it still creates a slightly harsher ride than if I had just replaced the old worn out Leaf springs or even added a spring to the pack. Just my 2 cents.

I've put the airlift bags with the on board compressor on my last two trucks. I would do it again been real happy. With the compressor you can adjust the pressure very easily.

jons326RL, Howdy;

I went the route of having a leaf replaced in the rear spring pack.
The new leaf is 0.004" thicker. It not only helps keep things from feeling
soft or 'spongy', it actually leveled the truck. Mine is a 2004 and Ford
is prone to having the rear end about 1/2" lower than the front. Mine is also a 4X4 with a 6.0 (yea, I know ).
Just so you know there is an option to airbags.

I installed Riderites on my 2009 Titan that we used for towing our 26foot Outback and they did a great job, I'm thinking of putting them on our 3500Sierra HD but want to use it on a a few more trips when the rig is fully loaded before I decide

I have purchased a product called timbren for the rear of my 2010 f250.

I have not installed them yet but will do so before spring.
I am also looking at installing Sulastic spring shackles on the rear leafs as well.

My truck sits low when loaded and is rough over expansion joints. These items might help.

I thought about the air bag option as well but really you would need the on board air pump as well for peace of mind and that effectively doubles the cost.

I think you will find the timbrens will be all you need. Only problem with them is a partial load ride quality.

I have put Super Springs on my 2006 F250. We were pulling a Sprinter 300KBS TT now we pull a Alavanche 330RE 5er. I get very little headlight flash from oncomming traffic. I due sit down about 2 inch when couplered up.
