Up date on slide out floor

While wanted to post an update on my slide out floor. After 2 1/2 months I got my camper back today. Reason it was in the shop was the floor on the kitchen slide rotted out. Somehow while slide was closed rain would get in leak down and get the under slide of the floor wet. Took it in to dealer camping world Raleigh Nc. They had no clue why or how this was happening. Stated could be many different things. Cost to repair was going to be around 3,000.00. Had extended warranty that was a joke will be canceling it. They contacted keystone final story was they ended up covering under what they called a good faith repair. Dealer sent over 100 pics. My reason for this update is when I pick it up. Was told this is a problem and they have another 4 campers with the same problem and waiting on keystone to make a decision on them. So if you have a camper like mine you might want to keep a good check on the outside kitchen slide for this problem. Dealer also told me keystones issue with making the repair was there was no record of regular maintenance on the seals. I do my own maintenance on the camper.

Glad to hear Keystone stepped up on this one.

As for "record of maintenance" there was a time when it was difficult to keep "honest records" because receipts for supplies usually didn't itemize what was purchased and there was only "the owner's word" that he actually did anything with the tube of sealant or the gallon of roof conditioner...

These days, with a "hand held computer with an internal camera" it's simple to just take photos of the work, the cleaning, the inspections as an owner does the maintenance... I'd urge everyone who has a trailer and who does their own maintenance, to just spend that extra minute to take a few photos of what they are doing. Then, if there's a problem in the future, you've got the "proof in photos" to go along with a photo of the receipt for the tube of sealant...

What type of maintenance is one supposed to do on the seals to be in compliance. Also I would guess you need to keep an eye on The slide roof maintenance like the rest of the roof.

If you go to the Keystone RV site: https://www.keystonerv.com/owners-how-to There is a complete (well as complete as you'll find) section on RV Owner repairs and maintenance. Most of the requirements are either in the videos or in the FAQ section. There is a complete video on Slide Maintenance.

With a 2020 year RV the slide out seals would normally require nothing more that a good visual inspection of condition and wiping down wit( baby powder on the inner and outer seals…

Glad they honored the repair with a “Good Will” gesture. Most RV extended warranties are a joke and money grabber gimme by the dealership ..they make money selling these and they are.. IMO and experiment about worthless

My “Extended Warranty” consists of a bank account with funds set aside for roof membrane, axle, appliance replacement if ever needed. The repair aspect is done by me.. for the last 45 years
