Replacing King Mattress with Queen Mattress, Full size

Going to replace the king size mattress in our new Fifth wheel with a full size queen mattress. Has anybody else done this and how did it work out, what brand mattress did you end up with? Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Joe, we had a trim carpenter come to the RV and cut down the king size bed base to a full queen. It looks just perfect. We put another Serta, maybe 12" thick, extra firm and never looked back. We have a Sterns and Foster mattress at home but we like this a little better. And now we can walk (scoot) along the bed, both sides to change sheets.

I also went with a Serta queen. Cut the plywood base on each side..so much more comfortable and can actually get on both sides of the bed..single best modification

Thumbs up Queen

We actually did that. Fit the board to the mattress. Works great. You can now change sheets without crawling on the mattress.

We did the same; had the platform cut to fit a residential queen instead of an
"RV king". Works super and we don't have to fight, bruise or knees etc. to change sheets. It is a GREAT mod IMO. We bought a mattress from Denver Mattress and they delivered it to the dealership to have it installed prior to taking possession.

Ditto - first thing I did when we got the trailer home. I unscrewed and removed the plywood platform and took it outside to trim it down to accommodate a queen bed. Easy Peasy. We got an inexpensive Zinus mattress from Amazon and added a 3" foam topper. It works for us. Mattress preference is very subjective. Get the kind you like...a full size queen mattress will fit just fine.

Thank you all for your inputs, now I get out the saw and cut some wood or as my wife says, "He's making man glitter (sawdust)."

We are about to do the same thing. Should pick up the new Arciada in a few weeks and the Cali King is rock hard. We had a Queen topper on all of our other RVs but always wanted a new mattress. The time we're gonna get a new one before we even take our first trip

After much mattress confusion on our part, we finally figured out the deception on the part of keystone. We got the option for the "King bed" in the bedroom but it never looked or felt right. When we put our old King mattress, it was cartoonishly too big. Took some measurements and realized that the platform is exactly a normal Queen size, with an "RV King #2" mattress slapped on top, falling off every side of the platform. Not the most comfy for sleeping. I think we're going to eventually find a normal Queen ourselves

I bought an Olympic Queen (6” wider than regular queen) and it fits perfectly in my Cougar that came with the 70” wide king. I bought the Hybrid model from Brooklyn Bedding and it is so comfortable! Brooklyn Bedding has numerous specialty sizes for RVs. Mine came rolled in a box 9 days after I placed my order. A word of caution, if you purchase a rolled, boxed, mattress, don’t cut the vacuum bag until you have it placed exactly where you want it. Open the windows to let the foam smell air out.
