LED bulb in range hood

I ordered an LED bulb to replace the incandescent in my range hood, and have just found out that it may not be a good idea due to the heat resistant nature of LED's.

Does anyone know if this should be avoided?

Is it a matter of the bulb blowing or could it start an electrical fire?

I bought these LED panels for our vent hood and wired them together and used the included bulb socket adapter to connect them to the socket.

No issues so far.

I've had the same LEDs in my range hood for a number of years now with no issue.

I bought similar LED panels that Brian has, for my Cougar back in 2013 when we bought the trailer. I had a couple extras, so I stuck them under the range hood and wired them to the hood light switch. It's going on 8 years and they're still working. For us, it's not the heat as much as it is the moisture. We always run the fan when cooking or even boiling water on the stove and that keeps both the water and temperature "somewhat under control"....

I might add we also have an aftermarket "quiet fan" accessory for the range hood. It's not only much more efficient, it's about a tenth the noise of the old "attempt at exhaust fan" that was OEM.

I bought one of these that says it's comparable to the one I took out based on the model number. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've found things on the interwebs that say it's a fire hazard, but any real cooking I'll do outside anyway, inside stove will be mostly for heating things up.

Well, if you're going to have a "fire hazard bulb" installed anywhere, what "better place" than in a metal container that's located directly over an open flame producing appliance?

As for "longevity of the LED array"... I've spent more on a battery that's designed to last only one season, so paying $10 for an LED, if it lasts one year, it's paid for itself, anything more is "free light" LOL

Ha ha, true that. Good place to have a fire, and the extinguisher is close by!

And definitely not worrying about the cost.

Maybe the same folks thyat claim it's a fire hazard are the folks who claim using a cell phone while fueling a car will make the fuel station catch fire.
