Grasshopper plumbing damage

Some rum-dumb (that would be me) left the cap off the black-tank rinse connection, allowing a rogue grasshopper to crawl up inside and get comfortable. When I hooked up the hose to rinse it was washed as far as the vacuum breaker and that is where the hell broke loose. Water began leaking from the driver's side basement and onto the bathroom floor. Luckily I was standing right there and was able to turn the hose off immediately.

This is a photo of the vacuum breaker and backflow preventer. When taken apart, the remains of said grasshopper were in both. Rather than risk putting it all back I just ordered all new. I don't feel like doing all this twice.

When I read the title I thought David Carradine broke into your trailer and wreaked havoc on your plumbing system

Oops!! That’s a mistake you only make once.

I’m suprised there wasn’t a screen washer on the fitting.

That’s not a cheap valve. I would keep it In case you had more bug plumbing trouble.

Jasin, 'young grasshopper', all will be happy to know the exact replacement from Lowe's was $16.00 and the brass replacement for the nylon backflow was $9.00 from Amazon.
Chuckster, the grey tank rinse has a screen, and now the black has a screen. I 'borrowed' it from the freshwater fill which has never been used and will be replaced later today! And yes, it has been a learning experience. At least there was no damage other than I had to buy a $35 body panel cutter from HF to cut into the wall behind the wall behind the access panel. Just what I needed, one more tool that will probably never get used again, but will be hauled around for years.

That was my thought to. Then I recall HOW he died and well, that's an image I'd rather not think about again.

And here I was, thinking I'd get some sympathy and end up having to explain how my grasshopper died....

Oh, OK, Sorry to hear about your Grasshopper (disambiguation) issue but it can't be as messy as the Grasshopper (David Carradine ) variety.

I’m jealous. 1. You have a brass valve, mine is all plastic. 2. You have a gray tank flush, I have only a black tank flush.

Thanks! It's been years since I heard the expression "rum-dum" That was an expression my dad used and he's been gone 40 years
