Problem with just bought, used 2017 Raptor 425TS

Went with this model so I can use the TH part for storing bikes and it doubles as a bunkhouse for kids. Did a lot of research and happy with the layout.

The guy brought it last night and condition is decent. However I currently just have it plugged into a 110 so my assumption is that half the stuff will not work that way. So I fired up the generator and unplugged from 110 and stuff still doesn't work. In particular the main tv, master tv, blue ray, fire place and vac. I am new to the TH world, came from a rockwood TT so I don't know all the nuances of what works and what doesn't and the owners manual is just a general overview of keystone products, not specific to my rig.

Any help is appreciated. I did the usual check of GCFI and fuses/breakers.

Buying used is a risk because dealer wont show you everything and how it all works but didn't want to spend the extra money over this used one.

Running from a shore outlet or your generator are about the same thing. I'm sure you realize that you have 2 sources of power; 12vdc and 120vac. The things you listed appear to be 120vac. If none of them work, all the breakers are good etc., have you checked the outlets they're plugged into? Are they hot? Maybe a wire came loose somewhere in the daisy chain? A tripped gfci plug? Put a meter in those outlets and see where the power is or isn't then run down where it "went".

Welcome to the Forum

Did you buy from a dealer and have it delivered? The dealer SHOULD HAVE demonstrated that everything worked unless you signed an "AS IS" waiver. Even then a decent dealer would at least tell you what works and what doesn't. At this point I would start at the breaker panel. Your coach is most likely 50A and that means there is two 110V sides of the breaker panel. Do you have 110 at the main breakers?

Did you check the breakers ON THE GENERATOR? I'm assuming that you have an Onan/Cummins 5500 generator. It should have two breakers, one for each pole of the generator. One of them might be tripped.

I'm assuming that the inside lights work? Those are run off your battery or the converter. The converter runs off of 120v. Maybe disconnect the battery and see if the lights still work with it plugged into 120v(or run off generator). If they do, then you at least have power to the converter, which is powered through one of the 120v breakers, which means you have 120v at the panel.

If nothing on 120v works, start from the beginning. If you have power where it's pulled in from(at the house plug or from the generator), then flip the main breaker off and on, even though it looks like it's not tripped. Then try the other ones. If just a few plugs work, look for all the GFI plugs and make sure they are not tripped. If you still have no 120v power in ANY of the plugs, then it's time for a little more work.

Pull the front of the breaker panel off and check if there is 120v TO the breaker panel. Could be a loose wire connection in the back of the panel.

It's a matter of elimination, and sometimes it's easy and sometimes not...

Good luck!

I bought it privately so no dealer walk through.

Well turns out my breakers were tripped on the gen. Guy told me he recently used it but failed to tell me he flipped the breakers to off. Gen started and ran fine but don’t think the load transferred. Everything but a master tv is working now under gen power and the outlet works so it think the tv took a crap.

Thanks for all the replies and help!

You should have a transfer switch I would think to switch from shore power to gen power.. did you switch over?

A couple of thoughts. If at all possible, when you start the generator, have the two breakers turned off and let the generator run for several minutes to warm it up before putting it under a load. As far as the TV not working, if you have a multi-meter, check and see if there is 120VAC at the recept. that the TV is plugged into; don't assume that the TV has gone south.

Those transfer switches will switch over automatically. There is no way for someone to switch them manually. If the generator is started however, and the breakers on the generator are turned off, the transfer switch does not "see" any power from the generator and so no switching or transfer of power will occur. Once the breakers on the generator are switched on, the transfer switch will then do it's thing. Most of the times there is a built in time delay in the transfer switch before it does the switching from shore power to generator power.

Most LCD/LED TV's have a specific operating temperature. If the TV is in a room (unheated RV) and is too cold, it may not turn on until it "sits at room temperature" for several hours. Don't give up on it yet. Once you get heat on the trailer for an "overnight warm-up" try the TV again.

As TV's get more sophisticated, I'm sure the engineers are "designing in" temperature monitors to prevent damage rather than just a "warning in the manual" that, if ignored, will result in "smoke and sparks"....

I worded my last reply poorly. Before I switched the breakers I was saying that the gen was running but apparently the load was not transferring over.

Now that the breakers are switched on, the gen warms up for a bit and then transfers it over and everything is powering up.

I plugged something else in to the outlet that the tv is plugged into and it worked. Only thing to try now is to warm up the room and see if the tv is preventing itself from turning on because of temperature. Same TV is in the garage and it is turning on just fine but I will still give it a chance.

Again, thanks for all the replys and help!

Just thinking out laud but make sure power wire is plugged into TV firmly if it's not hardwired inside the TV. Also, were you attempting to turn it on with the remote? If you you were using the remote try the remote on the other TV to verify that it works.

Plug a lamp into the outlet for the dead television and see if you have power at the outlet. If so, yep.... the television took a crap.
