Air conditioner question by a newbie

JerryMe here,
Love this forum, incredibly valuable to a newbie.
I just bought a 2017 Keystone Sprinter 269 fwrls (50 amp service). The air in my house went out yesterday. I have a 5500 Wheelhouse generator with a 4 prong 30 amp locking female receptacle. Should I be able to, safely, run my RV 15,000 btu AC with this generator? I have a 50/30 amp dogbone & Camco has a 55338 power grip 30 amp 4 prong generator adapter. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

If that generator is rated for 5,500 watts then yes you should be good. Plug in the camper, turn main breaker in camper off. Turn the other breakers in the camper off.

Start generator and let it "stabilize", the speed and sound will be constant. Turn on the main breaker first, then the rest one at a time. That will prevent a large surge on the generator as the loads come on line.

We’ve been there and done before with the home a/c out of commission. It was a blessing to have the little trailer on-site and a quiet generator for a day or so. And actually, our first trailer was purchased so that we had access to a place to stay for and extended period of time should a hurricane come through and level the area. We’ve had too many close calls. Then, over time the small Jayco was too small for us and we decided on something a bit larger and to also use it more for its intended purpose, rather than just an evacuation pod and an occasional outing.

You should be fine.

I have a Champion 3100/2800 inverter generator and it will start and run the 15K BTU AC unit in our camper.
