cougar xlite 26bhs

considering purchasing a cougar xlite 26 bhs. Anyone have likes or dislikes,

How long is the Tt behind the wheels? And how tall does the back end sit off the ground. I have a hill in my driveway and concerned if I will be able to get it up the driveway. We have an 24 foot expandable now and it sometimes drags. I am hoping that the cougar is higher and hope not any longer behind the tires so it will still come into the driveway.
Thanks!

Welcome mustanggirl,

A search of the forum only found one member who mentions the Cougar Xite 26BHS, and he/she
hasn't posted for well-over a year. In the meantime, hopefully the following info will help...

The Xlite has 15" tires, so that may offer you a bit of added ground clearance compared to
your current trailer.

Based on the photos in the ads below & comparing the floorplan -- it "appears" (at best guess) there
would be at least 6+ ft of trailer behind the rear wheels. The bunks are typically 72" long; the pantry
is next & 'maybe' 12" wide, and then the refrig/stove are above the wheels. Note: trailers in the ads
are west coast models, so the front cap will be different. The first photo in each ad shows the side view.

Good luck with your decision,
Terri, the co-pilot

Thanks so much for your help! I am surprised that there is only one other on the site that owns this model.

If the Cougar is like mine, which it pretty much is but nicer, the rear is a bit over 20” above the ground. From rear axle hub to the end of the spare is close to eight feet. Break out your Trig book to find out what that angle is.

If you want to cheat getting into the driveway, get a generic trailer hitch that’s got quite a drop to it. That’ll lower the nose and raise the rear. Swap out hitches when you get home so you can park your trailer.

I was just at my trailer and realized that I didn’t take into account the rear stabilizers. The 20+” height was to the frame.

The rear stabilizers are about 15” above the ground and are about 6.5’ from the rear axle.

Thanks! for the measurements of you TT and the hitch suggestion. I think we may just have to try and fix the driveway to help get the camper in if need be. The passport bunk house is what we were first looking at but am really starting to like the cougar xlite. We have not been to the dealer yet as we are researching as much as possible online before we travel to the dealer.
