Question tire clearence ; rubbing slide mech.

I have a 2006 coppercanyon. The large slide over the passenger side tires rubs the rear tire.It is the square rod of the slide assembly. Any idea what would cause this. Its almost like the springs haved gotten weak and no longer holds the box high enough. I have moved and even removed inside weight with no change in tire clearence.

The axle or spring mounts have most likely shifted. Measure the distance between axle centers to see if both sides are exactly the same. On some models there is less than ˝ in. side clearance from tires to the slide mechanism you mention. This distance does not change with load ... tires only squat on the bottom. JM2˘, Hank
