AirXcel Thermostat Issue

We arrived in Ohio yesterday for a very short three night trip. It is cold at night. Furnace worked fine till 4 am. It was back running again at 630 am. Now we have moved thermostat up to 75F and still no heat on. Yes, have propane. Yes brand new trailer we have not had it a week till tomorrow (11/14/2020). We had issues with thermostat because making it get to set temperature or not going above it.

WAIT! It JUST kicked furnace on!!!!

We have no manual for thermostat. Pulled cover off and no numbers for model number (called dealership for help yesterday when stuck in Celsius).

Any ideas or help appreciated.

Welcome to the forum : wlcm:

It sounds like you have the “touch” thermostat with up and down on the right and mode on the left. Touching both up and down at the same time changes from F to C and back.

You can operate the thermostat without the cover, just touch the contacts. Numerous complaints about this thermostat if it’s the one I described.

That I’m not sure of. I would contact the thermostat maker, if I remember right, Member Sourdough got free replacement and it took 3 to get it right.

Mine are/were Dometic CT thermostats. I don't have much experience with the AirXcel thermostats. Here is a quick link if OP hasn't looked at it;

I finally replaced my Dometic CT (brand new trailer) with a MicroAir Easy Touch thermostat - a world of improvement. A little spendy to do on a new trailer and obviously your warranty will not cover the new thermostat but it was worth it to me. You might log the MicroAir as a possibility if the AirXcel unit gives you continued problems.

Oops! Looks like Danny has the video for the Airxcel thermostat, my brain was stuck on the Dometic one used in Keystone products.

I would pull the cover off, and I believe the thermostat lifts up to get it off the wall. Then check connections.

In these low temperatures when we need the heat to work and it plainly is a thermostat issue (furnace was diagnostic tested) then price isn’t an issue! Junk is junk! Thank you for video.

I saw this late. I will have hubs check it after we finish up tomorrow. I am ready to get rid of the junk and upgrade to better. 🙃😉

I have had good luck with that particular thermostat. Another place to check is the control box connections in the roof AC return duct. You can access it from inside the trailer.

It is all thermostat issues. Connection good. Either won’t turn on, won’t run, or won’t shut off if we get it to run. This is only on the furnace side. We used A/C side without issue in FL without issue. We are headed to warmer climate to have holiday with family. We will order new thermostat and have sent there.

We already have warranty work on microwave. That is a joke. They had to determine it was bad. That took us waiting 6 hours. Then being told it had to be approved by manufacturer then new could be installed. I am without microwave. In a TT that was taken in for service call within 3 days. So nope, ordering thermostat. I won’t have microwave till December.

Next is replace tires and add TMPs everyone talks about. Hubs said find name and order. He said tire pressure is too important.

Sounds like you are gradually getting a handle on things. Always makes for less stress. My choice of tpms was a TST system (Truck Systems Technology) with pass thru sensors. No matter which system you choose, you will have to change the valve stems to steel or brass as the rubber ones do not work with external sensors and all systems will tell you not to use them. Happy camping!

I have been using MicroAir since December 2020. I am THRILLED!!! After freezing, furnace not working because of whatever the thermostat thought was the problem. The MicroAir will run till a tank is empty!! So far not a single issue!! After some faulty warranty work I am glad we just did this!! Thank you very much and thank you Chuck too!!

I am very happy you have had good results with the MicroAir. It has been such an improvement, maybe a Godsend, from the Dometic CT units. I'm glad to hear you have had good success as well.
