roof joint maintenance
Just got done patching up a small leak in the front corner of TT. Roof sealant had cracked at the joint of the rubber roof membrane and front aluminum cover joint. I'm just looking for some advice in the long run. I scrubbed the joint along the whole front with a very soft bath brush and water to remove dirt. Then wiped clean with rags. Waited a few hours with some unbelievable 70 degree, sunny, November weather here, and then coated it with dicor self leveling lap sealant. When you are patching cracked or leaking areas like this, do you peal off the existing sealant, or just add more on top? I just envision it being like a road that eventually must be ground down before adding more asphalt or it gets too high. I did not peal any away this time, but just thinking for future repairs. Thanks.
