Upgrades to Fuzion

Just because I am all about simplicity, I installed a 50 amp Shoreline power reel model CL50D02L-SR with a 33ft cord to make life easier. The dimensions are 12" WIDE X 14" THICK 16" TALL. I mounted the reel directly to the frame rail behind the left tires. I cut a hole in the aluminum siding and used a hatch door purchased online to conceal the reel. I then installed a power switch next to the reel to use while retracting. (RV Trailer Motor home 5th Wheel Exterior 12V Switch & Harness & Access Door Box) Makes life much much easier. The Keystone Fuzion gives you a very small 30 inch storage pipe for the sewer line. The problem is you can only put a very small sewer line inside. I decided to follow the advice of some other members and install an 8ft 5 x 5 vinyl fence post cover with a vinyl gutter slide out. I mounted this right in front of the power reel which gives it some protection from the wx. This works so much better and I can now even fit the sewer elbow inside the 5x5 post.

Sorry been away, I ran 50 amp shore line directly from the power reel under the frame and up through the propane storage compartment and then back through into the forward storage compartment right next to the power distribution box. I then wired the reel directly into the the shore line power slot and placed a deactivated label on the old shore line power connection outside the RV. I am going to add an inline voltage /surge protector shortly.

Looks good and neat. Each time I have to pick up that 50 AMP cable and place it in the storage compartment I say to myself has to be a better way. Have seen these reels and did not want to take up space by mounting it in the storage area. Never really thought about where you placed yours. I will have to see what room I have for the reel.

Wished I would have thought of this while I was tearing out my old transfer switch and installing the Surge Guard EMS Transfer Switch which provides total electrical protection and monitoring for the onboard Onan 5500, as well as shore power. Great mod, only way to go to protect rig regardless of the source of power. For any of you who say I do not need it to protect against my own generator, well one day fired up generator and noticed there was no 120VAC looked over at the surge guard monitor led and noticed it was flashing 140VAC on leg one. It would not provide power to the Raptor with that level of voltage. Called Onan and there had no answer other than if it happens again may what to have it looked at. Stopped generator waited awhile and restarted with no problem ???????

Without that Surge Guard transfer switching blocking the generator power I would have had no idea that generator was pumping out 140 VAC to the RAPTOR. I guess after a while I would have known, smoke, devices stopping , etc. Maybe this should be another thread.

Again will have to see space that II have for the reel and where/how I would have to tap in.

The sewer storage mod has been great for me also. Only way to go.

For those that are interested in this MOD here are a couple of the original threads
