Do I need to adjust my WDH?

I recorded the following weights on CAT Scales recently. The truck and trailer were fully loaded at the beginning of a trip (eg. food, clothes, full gas tank, etc. But nothing in any holding tanks).

It sure seems like the WDH should be applying more weight to the front axle. (I do understand that the best approach is to measure the front wheel well displacement under load... but I'm a little concerned that my truck is carrying so much on the back axle)

Truck only
Steer Axle: 4380
Drive Axle: 3740
Total: 8120

Truck+Trailer
Steer Axle: 3920
Drive Axle: 5460
Trailer Axle: 7040
Total: 16420

Just for info, here are the specs for my tow vehicle:

2024 RAM 2500
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) 10000
GAWR (Front) 5500
GAWR (Rear) 6390
Gross Cargo Weight 2839
GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating) 19980

Short answer; yes you need to adjust the weight distribution.

Your scale weights indicate that you unloaded the front axle by 460 lbs. This is a bad thing because it means that you could easily find yourself in a situation where you turn the steering wheel but keep going straight. The point of a weight distribution hitch is to redistribute the weight fairly evenly between the front and rear axles. You should negate the unloading of the front axle and load it by at least another 400 lbs.

When I towed a bumper pull with a WDH, I set it up so my front settled around 1/2” to 1”.
