3 Month Snowbird in Fla. Questions..

My wife and I are entertaining living in a 55+ RV/Mobile home park in Ft. Myers
for three months during the winter (Jan., Feb., and March) and returning back to Pa. in spring. What advice do you have and what is customary for rent costs during the time we are there and the time we are in Pa. I have a 2018 Springdale that I could pull down there and set it on a site or sell the unit and buy a park or small mobile home unit already on a site. I'm open to any and all suggestions and have already been called everything under the sun, so you will not offend me with your honesty.
Thanks in advance,
Larry

I'm not sure why anyone would call you anything for exploring wintering options; seems logical to me.

You've opened lots of doors as far as price speculation and/or living opportunities. I suggest you might put some thought into what would be the best solution for your family since none of us know.

Pricing could be 500-2000 mo. I figure but who knows whether we're talking a empty grassy site or a new trailer with fancy concreted pads/walks/gardens and storage buildings. For that the internet is your friend.

I would stress again that knowing what your plan is will be very important. Do you want to give up the flexibility/freedom of an RV, buy a park model, then just park it there for 3 months of the year? Then what? Those aren't really meant to roam around the country. As far as buying some fixed structure all I can say is DON'T! I used to think that was the answer so had a mountain home, lake home, country home etc. In the end I didn't have enough time to spend at any one of them plus the taxes/maintenance chewed large holes in my wallet and time. Just got rid of my 3rd one almost a year ago and have been relieved ever since. We will keep our primary home.

Sorry for the long post but what you are speculating takes a lot if time and investigation so you don't end up remorseful. Have you ever been to Ft. Myers? If not, I would encourage you to go and spend 3 months first before committing to anything. I've been to lots of places that seem "neat" and "quaint" for a few days but in a few months you've had all you want. Good luck.

What names

All I can say is take your time, plan it out and make sure you have thought about everything before making that kind of decision.

^^^^what Danny said. I might add that there is nothing 'neat nor quaint' about the Fort Myers area. Cape Coral/Naples/Fort Myers is a large, bustling metro area. Very heavy traffic ALL THE TIME. As an example, I would challenge you to find a parking space in any of the Costco's any day of the week. There are many redeeming qualities of the Fort Myers area, but not neat nor quaint. Good restaurants abound, as do museums, parks and beaches.
You think the Atlantic might be cold in February? The gulf waters are much colder that time of the year because of being so shallow.
Danny's suggestion of visiting the first winter without purchase is a much better idea.
While visiting the area be sure to visit The Shrimp Shack, Farmer's Market Restaurant and The Ford Garage. All have food worth the time!

Wow!
Til we've walked a mile in your shoes I don't think anyone on here that can answer those questions for you!
We've wintered from Florida to Arizona, never did California, much like Florida too expensive, inn about every type of rv park imaginable.
I'm with the other Danny, but buy anything anywhere til you've been there for a bit. We've been Coop parks that there were SO many rules & SO many busy bodies frothing at the mouth to run tattle tale on you it was like grade school & other 55+ parks were like being at recess ALL day, great fun.
As far as price, depends where, for how long, what time of year, what type of site do you want? Each one of those seem to increase the price.
If you're considering going to any of the snowbird areas, probably should reserve now for next year. If the pandemic ever ends, the borders open the Canadians will be back in drives.
