Help with Entertainment Wall
Hello,
My wife and I just purchased a 2005 Laredo 29gr fiver. The attached photo is of the entertainment center located in a slideout (shown in second photo). The cabinet doors directly below the receiver is where there was a small tv which could be viewed from inside or outside the rv.
We would like to remove the items from this center and update it. Get rid of the receiver and speakers, change the wall and perhaps mount a flat screen.
My question is, has anyone dealt with this and, if so, can you share with us what you have done?
Thanks.

dharv53,
I have not done what you are considering with your entertainment wall. I will say (on observation) the picture shows the speakers and radio built in, I believe the power source for these components is 12 volt (similar to a car stereo system) and the flat screen you wish to install on that wall will require 110 volt (household). I'm not sure if the manufacture has 110 voltage power to that slide out. That could be some work to install, especially on a slide out.
Hope this helps before you get into the "demo" mode.

According to the first post there is a tv in the cabinet below the stereo.
OP: the old saying is “anything is possible with enough money”. Because if the age, you probably won’t find that color in paneling. It would be a fairly easy task to remove components, replace the wall panel and then do what you want.

Copy that Chuckster.
Evidently my reading comprehension isn't what it used to be, among other things. That's what I get for just "looking at the pictures". Habit I guess from old Playboy's.

I suspect there is both 110vac and 12vdc in the ent. center if there is a TV behind the doors. If you have some woodworking tools and know how to use them I would not hesitate to rip the entire thing out and build in what I wanted; 4k flatscreen, soundbar and new receiver. It will look and sound about 100 times/years better. As for color matching, if it isn't a stock off the shelf color you can always match it with some trial and error mixing stains.

Shouldn't be too hard to find out what's in there. As stated if there is, or was, a TV then there could easily be 110v in the cabinet. It also shouldn't be difficult to pull the speakers and head unit and take a look around behind them for wiring. Re-configuring that cabinet shouldn't be too difficult for someone with adequate tools and skill. Stain matching is a bit of an art but doable.

Take one of the doors or a piece of trim to Sherwin Williams & I'd bet money with their computer matching setup they could match the stain close enough it would be VERY hard to notice.

I've not ever used their service for stain matching but would just say to be very careful; the type of wood has a dramatic effect on how the stain looks once applied. What a particular stain looks like on white pine will bear no resemblance to what it looks like on red oak.

I'm with Danny on this one. How is your skill set?
I'd probably carefully remove entire setup and see what I can come up with.

Much of the "cabinetry" in that era was "stick built with screwed together components"... Remove the cabinet doors, empty them and take a careful look at the stiles holding the front panel to the side panels. You may find that there are 3 or 4 "embedded screws" holding the front face of the cabinet to the sidewalls. You may be able to remove those screws and "CAREFULLY" take the entire front facing off the cabinet. Then, just take it to your shop and rebuild it to suit your needs.
If there's a current TV in the cabinet, you already have a 120VAC plug in the slide. If there is no lighting in the cabinet slide, you may not have 12VDC. Some of the stereo systems were 12VDC and some were 120VAC, so that could be an either/or power requirement.
