33 RES - two questions

If you have one then you know how hard it is to push in the waste water slide valves. The T handles are tucked way up behind the fender skirt. I have to get a cushion pad to kneel down on to get my stubby arm up in there to push it straight in. I keep threatening to drill three 4" dia. holes on the skirt so I can just push the dumb things in. Anybody else have a problem with it and what suggestions might you have?

Other question... how many gallons does the hot water heater hold? Is it 5? I sure can take nice long showers.

So far I'm liking this trailer a lot.

Some members have fashioned or purchased a length of pole which has a hook at one end to pull the rod out and push it back in. With a handle like "Gadgetmonster" you shouldn't have too much trouble making up something - a gadget -that would work. This doesn't eliminate having to get down on your knees but may make the job easier.

Without knowing too much (make - model) about your HW heater, it's hard to determine its capacity. In any case, short showers - aka Navy showers - are a way of life in an RV so you may have to forego your usual length of time spent showering.

Many of the Cougar XLite and Half Ton models have the holding tank slide valves "up under" the side skirt, mounted on the frame rail. You're right, they are a "bear" to get to. Many of us have taken a number of different approaches to gain better access. My approach was to install a door in the lower side skirting that allows a "direct approach" to the valve handles.

Whatever route you choose to go, please post pictures of your work. They will give other members ideas on how to make their trailers more "user friendly" ....

One thing that helps make it easier to slide the rod in and out is a little lube. (No sexual intent here). I put some WD40 on a shop towel once and a while to clean and lube the rod, makes it much easier.
