2009 or 2010

i just bought a 2010 sydney 320fdb and while checking it over i found the sticker that has a manufactured date of march 4 2009. how could this unit be a 2010 when they did not start making them in march of 2009?? dealer has been uncooperative with my questions

This is not uncommon...we have a "2008" model which was advertised as an '08. The Keystone sticker indicates that it was manufactured in 2007.

This is pretty common on large scale items. My 1990 Nissan was manufactured in July of 1989, but is titled as a 1990.

In my case I was trying to get specialty insurance for it years ago, but the insurance company wasn't buying the build date. They only wanted the titled year, so I was forced to wait another year to get it classed as special interest at 20 years old.

it's common practice to commit fraud?? this unit was on the lot on march of 2009 and being sold as a 2009, but because they did not sell it they made it a 2010? even had a 2009 sticker on the window
cars and truck model years start in late july so that is not the same thing

There are already some 2011 cars on the dealers lot. It matters when they change the model year. IF you introduce the 2011's now you sell more... Some people want the latest and greatest.

It's been my experience that RV's are manufactured per model year from June of the previous year to the end of May of the following year, I don't know if the RV industry has strayed from this method but bottom line any RV manufacturer can call any newly produced RV anything they want, but I still go by the sticker, if it's called a 2010 model then I expect to see the sticker say anywhere from June 2009 to May 2010. I think you have to ask Keystone and not the dealer.

Smile Date differences

The dating of RVs in interesting. Our last 5er was ordered as one of two last offline for the 2006 year model. They told us for an additional $400 they would tag it a 2007. It had all the features of the 2007. We were foolish and said no as we didn't think we would sell it in 3 1/2 years for a smaller 5er. We could have sold for more but feel we did fine.

Our Cougar was built at the end of April 2010, arrived at the dealer and they held it until May 2010 for us. When we picked it up, we saw they had 2011 models in and asked about the difference. Well, there was no difference.

You have to realize that RV manufacturers change things progressively through the year and use up what is on hand until gone, then go to the newer.

I have studied Google for our 2010 Cougar 278RKS and have been able to identify the mid year changes (more vinyl in kitchen so you don't walk on carpet to get to the back kitchen, dark stained woodwork standard, better vinyl floor coloring, a change in the arms of the sofa, to name some things). I am really thrilled with the things that we got on our unit that were not there for those earlier in the season. When I asked dealers about changes, they really couldn't give complete answers. They don't spend near as much time studying these things as we did a prospective buyers.

We have an '07 290RKS but the sticker next to the door says 290EPS which is an '06 model. I never bothered to look at the build date because I have no plans of selling it soon. Our last 5r we had for 12 years and at that point 1 year made little difference even though it was in mint condition. The TT I had before that we used for 4 seasons but when we traded up it was only 2 model years old .... I don't know how they figured that one, but they had it sold before I signed the papers and I got top dollar instead of loosing my shirt.

Question Rv construction

I've been reading some things on rv framing, regarding the aluminum framing on Rv's being subject to stress cracks. It seems that framing built by Lippert is subject to this more than others. Can someone tell me if Keystone Fuzions have the Lippert aluminum framing? Where would one look to see evidence of this without tearing things out?

Lippert makes most of Keystone's steel frames and slides but I thought the aluminum side framing was made "in house". With so many makes and models I don't see it being practical to be made outside. Maybe someone who has taken a factory tour can shed some light on this. JM2¢, Hank

SJMcKee:
You can insert a photo of your rig in your signature by doing the following:
1) On the Blue bar at the top of this page, click on UserCP (Control Panel)
2) On the new page that appears, go down to 'Settings and Options"
3) Click on "Edit Signature"
4) In this section, you can delete, change or add items to your signature including a photo.
5) Look for the icon that indicates this --- "Insert Image"
6) You will need to have a photo in 'My Pictures" or some other location in your computer that you can move.
7) Be sure you keep the size of your photo to the limits set. Otherwise, it won't accept it.

You can also look at FAQ on the blue bar and it will give you directions about inserting photos there as well.

out 295RE was built in may of 2010 and the nameplate, MSO (mfg certificate of origin), title, and invoice all say it is a 2011 model. In August a "new" 2011 model was introducted as well that has curved ceilings, molded front cap and some other changes.
.
my mercedes has that beat. it was built in february of 1996, and is listed and titled as a 1997 model and the same car was sold as a 1997 model from april 1996 to december 1997.
