AC on the fritz

My Dometic AC is acting oddly. Wants to overcool. Not that I mind the cool but set the thermostat at 75 and it cooled to 61. Set at 85 to rest AC and at 75 it tries to restart. On two seconds, off two seconds, on, off, on, off. Lower the thermostat and it supercools again. Never acted up before. Any suggestions?

At least it is cooling.

The thermostat a Duo-Therm. Now that I am home the AC will not come on at all. Just a click in the unit when I lower the thermostat. Will pull the cover off in the near future. Wish I knew anything about AC.

I think you may have burned up the compressor while it was doing the on again-off again and you were playing with the thermostat. And you may have blown the circutbreaker (have you checked it?). Compresors are fickle things, need a minimun of 2 minutes between cycles or they burn-up.
You can get a digital thermostat at China-Mart (ooops my bad er ... Wal-mart).
If it wants to work after you check the circutbreaker I would recommend getting the digital thermostat.

Turns out the thermostat was bad. Replaced with an identical thermostat and all is working well.
