Furnace Thermostat Settings

Hi
We have a 2011 Cougar 276RLS and we are finding that the analogue furnace controller (Dometic) is cycling out at 60F but cycles in when it gets really cold - about 50F. Is this normal operation for this furnace please?
We have been told we can buy a digital controller which will overcome this problem. Do Dometic make a digital controller that I can just replace the analogue one with or has anyone have any other solutions please?
Cheers
Norm

Welcome to America!!

I wish I could do the same thing in your country, I'm sure it would be a wonderful experience.

Hope all the rain and flooding in Oz isn't affecting your "stick house" (home).

The analog thermostat is a piece of junk and won't cycle like it should. That being said, yours shouldn't be cycling with such a large margin. Perhaps there is an internal adjustment but I just don't know (someone here will help with that if possible).

I replaced mine with a cheap digital and it works great. If you use both fan speeds on AC than you will need to modify a digital to accommodate this, see here:

http://www.modmyrv.com/2008/07/14/rv-digital-thermostat

If you don't care about the lower fan speed you can do a direct swap-out in no time.

Here's a link to a thread on another site having to do with the same problem:

Good luck and G'Day

Mine did the same thing I replaced it yesterday with a Hunter42999 digital. There are instructions on the web for doing this... it took all of 10 min to do.

here is where I got it from

You can also find this thermostat at Wal-Mart as Hunter 42995, same thermostat but made for Wal-Mart by Hunter. Also to wire it we need to know if your AC unit is a Duo-Therm by Dometic or a Coleman Mach. The wiring is different for each. You can find all the info you need to install it on my homepage here: http://www.eaa1358.com/Passport/Hunter%20Thermostat/ Just look through the folders and download what you want!

Thanks guys for all the information
I went to Walmart to find the Hunter 42995 but - none in stock - so went to Lowes and they didn't have any but they had a model 42122 for $24.95. I was just wondering if this would have the same wiring as the 42995? Or should I just buy the 42122 and try installing it myself?

We live in Western Australia - on the opposite side of the country to the flooding but our hearts go out to all the Queenslanders affected by the flooding. So many dreams lost or ruined.
Cheers

I think the 42122 will work and wire the same way. Here's a link to my homepage with the wiring for both Coleman and Dometic: http://eaa1358.com/Passport/Hunter%2...structions.pdf the terminals are the same for most all of the Thermostats.

I've been looking for Hunter Thermostats in BC Canada and can't find them at Walmart, Home Depot, Rona or anywhere else! Lots of Honeywells available but no Hunters. I am wondering if the wiring for a Honeywell would be the same as for the Hunter? Anyone installed a Honeywell rather than the Hunter?
