Add an Awning

I own a Cougar 327RES Fifth Wheel. It has a slide on the passenger side of the fifth wheel which makes for a very small awning over the door area. The current awning stops just before the window in the nose of the fiver and is up to the slide. I'd say it's about 8 feet wide. I recently saw an identical model at a campground and they had an awning of the same size that is over the door added onto their slide. I'm not talking about the type that goes over the top of the slide but an actual awning on the slide itself. No one was home so I couldn't question them on it. It looked identical to the one over the door. What I was wondering is if anyone has ever added such a thing? Where do you get the power for it? It sure looked like a nice option to have the second awning since the current one over the door area is very small. Once we put a picnic table under ours there's no room for anything else. It would be nice to have the chairs and other stuff under the other awning.

awning

I noticed the same thing with a couple 5vers we looked at, but on some the storage door might be in the way for the track.

We too have a Cougar 327RES and totally agree with you about the small awning. That is our only complaint about the fiver. We were thinking about having the existing awning removed and a new longer track and awning installed. If Keystone would have installed the track about 3 inches higher, the awning could have extened to the front of the unit, going above the bedroom windown on the passenger side. Installing an additional awning would work also. Very interested in the feedback on this issue. Thanks for any ideas or info on the subject.
