Leak in brand new cougar window

Hey all, just got home from picking up a new 2021 34tsb. I went over 500 miles to get it and when I got home I noticed that water was leaking from under the window. Strange thing is the seal around the window was fine, but it was dripping from the interior wood trim. I circled in yellow on the pic. I took the trim off and saw water between the fiber glass and insulation but can’t tell where it’s getting in. Any suggestions? I’m going to follow up with keystone tomorrow but I assume it will be months before they can get it in.

I can’t tell by the pictures, how is the window installed? If it’s like all RV windows that use a ring inside with screws, I would suspect the flange seal wasn’t installed properly.

The window doesn’t seem to be an issue. I’d think I’d see water on the inside of it. I’m wondering if the seal is bad where the led strip lights go through. I took the wood frame off the inside and can see where the water was running down the inside.

If it’s where the wiring comes through the front cap, I would simply seal it up and carry on. That way you’ll know it’s done correctly and didn’t have to wait weeks/months.

I’m hoping that’s what it is. There is silicone on it already, but I’ll check it out in more detail when it dries out.

I can't find it but I remember reading that there was a problem with the sealing of the yellow LED lights causing leaks around the window. I would make sure the upper LED on that side of the window is sealed.

I had same problem, but was a leak coming from the USB port and onto bed and millwork. Water came from yellow LED lights from above window. The hole where the wire connects to the light was not caulked correctly and water followed wires down to the port. I caulked it up and I have since had no problem.

Leaking window

It is actually very common to have a leaky window on new RV's. In Dallas alone I know of 3 including myself that took delivery of a new unit with a leak in the window. All workmanship related so don't be surprised in this market, but should be an easy fix with your dealer

Hello,

I have this same exact problem with the bottom left corner of the wood trim soaked and mold growing. Was your fix the front windshield gasket or LED wiring going through the cap?

Thanks! Really appreciate the help to get this diagnosed before we leave.

I would document this with pictures just in case it's not an easy fix, and more damage is discovered that is concealed.
Keep a record of all correspondence too.

Are you sure it's not being caused by simple condensation on the inside of the window? If it's cooler outside and warmer inside the camper, it's very, very common for condensation to form on any window. If enough forms, it drips and puddles. If it does not evaporate fast enough, it sits and can collect and actually cause wood rot in a very short time.

Anyway, I'm just throwing something else out there for you to check out and investigate.

Thanks for the replies everyone. It was the top LED strip, silicone from the manufacturer did not cover the hole. As soon as I climbed up you could see the wires going into the cap.

I called Keystone and they opened up a ticket for me in case there is water damage on this inside of the cap. They let me silicone up the hole after I sent pictures. They inside wood trim piece has mold on it so they are sending me a whole new piece to replace it. While I was up too I also noticed the front two running lights were jammed half way in and the gaskets were tore up. Documented and sealed those up to until I can get it in.

Awesome help on here, we appreciate it!
