Hot water by-pass

We have a 2011 Hornet 30RKDS. The water heater is under the counter in the back corner behind a screwed in panel. Has anyone came up with an easy way to access it for winterizing?

On my Cougar RK I can just reach it by removing the closest drawer. Sounds like your floor-plan is similar. The side wall of the cabinet under the stove may also be removable. (Just held in with staples )

Your kitchen does look close. Our sink is centered on the side wall and the stove is next to the corner on the back wall. There are no drawers next to it.

I'm still hoping someone with the same camper has thought of an easy way to access it. Our Cougar 5th wheel was easier.

It drains to the outside, but I would like to bypass it for winterizing. I'd also like to have access to check for leaks and service/insulate the water pump.

30rkds Hot Water Bypass

Open the door under the oven. On the left is a wood panel with three
screws. Remove the three screws and the bypass valve is right behind the panel.

bypass

We have the 2011 Hornet 28RLS. The bypass is under the sink behind the panel too. Mine has a little access hole in the board to turn the valve on and off.

Could you add hinges to the existing cover?

Make a new door that would work with hinges?

Hope this helps!

Under the stove thre is a wooden panel to the left. It is secured with three phillips head screws into ther floor.Remove the screws and panel and the bypass valve is right behind the panel on the water heater.
