Fridge won’t work electric

Leaving Sunday for a week. Started fridge last night to get cold. Plugged in to electric. Checked this morning, fridge not running. Switch was on auto, but LP flashing for some reason. Keeps trying to light on propane. Cut fridge off and on several times but nothing changed. I cut propane on and fridge fired right up. Even if switch is auto and plugged in. I checked fuse on back of fridge. It looks good but thought I would buy another one and switch it out anyway. I know it is a 5 amp fuse, but I can’t find one that size. Will a 1/4”x1 1/4” fuse work? Is there anything else to do or check? It’s no big deal to use fridge on propane all week. Just like for things to work like it is suppose to.

Did you check the outlet for power?

Just returned from 4 night trip. Had spotty phone service. The outlet does have power. I replaced the glass fuse on back of fridge and fridge worked for two days and came back from sightseeing and noticed fridge was running on propane while switch was on auto while plugged into shore power. Wonder if I blowed another fuse. I am concerned that the original fuse was not installed correctly and I have just got lucky for 3 years and no problems. The clips that hold fuse are loose. The original fuse was pushed all the way to back of clips. I think that is too far. I installed new fuse all the way to back because fuse would not stay in clip. Including a picture to show fuse all the way in back of holder. It’s actually touching the back. Maybe this is correct? Don’t know. Interested in comments.

You can use needle nose pliers to pinch the holder back together. The fuse is ok but shouldn’t be flat against the holder.

Thanks, I will try that. There was a storm that came through before I got back to camper. Don’t know if that blowed fuse or not. Appreciate your help.

I found out my fridge was running on propane and not shore power when I woke up to the trailer being 43 degrees from a blow fuse… I have extra of those now too.

It should be in the front, what could be an issue from being back there is if it’s loose and creates an arc which could blow the fuse. I would use needle nose pliers to try and tighten those up.

Most likely you have an issue with either the two heating elements OR the control module itself that is causing the 120 volt fuse to blow…

Find someone that has a multi meter and ohm out the two heating elements AND check all connections for the 120 volt side going to the control module board for input and output for tightness.

Make and model # of fridge is also helpful for more TS info.. if you don’t have the skill sets you need to find someone that does or get a mobile RV Tech

Why so much solder splash around that fuse? makes me wonder what it looks like behind that covering. Maybe a loose piece of solder is shorting something out on the board?

Fuse is in wrong, (too far) but still looks to be making a connection. Might be worth putting a ohm meter on it just to verify continuity.
