2021 219bh interior trim issues

So I noticed today that my larger wrapped wood trim piece ends were peeling at the front end of my unit above the murphy bed, in the side closets and in the middle wall of the front cap (so at the roof/top curve of front cap area/mid front cap area). When I took delivery, I did notice that these areas were a little off (slight shrinkage of the wrapped trim). I did touch up the front cap sealant along with some other areas of the roof after delivery in March. The areas looked unchaged as recently as our Memorial Day camping trip and we have had no rain in quite some time, but we have had hot temps 90-100 degrees here in Utah. Could the heat affect these trim pieces? I have seen NO signs of any water intrusion in the trailer and like I said my front cap seems to be sealed well. I have reached out to the dealer this AM, waiting to hear back. Any input is appreciated

Since we brought it home in March we have had rain and snow. I have checked on the trailer during and after storms with no sign of water.

Those trim strips are "cheap luan or plastic base material wrapped with "contact paper" printed to match the luan wallboard vinyl covering (wall paper). The last time I bought any (about 8 or 10 years ago) it was $0.96 per 8' strip.

If you're wanting "warranty repairs" (and your trailer is still in the 1 year warranty) the dealer should honor the repairs. Plan on making an appointment that will probably be 6-8 weeks out, and the dealer will likely want your trailer for several weeks (possibly another 6-8 weeks) to process the claim, order materials, receive them and then drag the trailer into a service bay to pull the old strips out and use some "commercial scissors" to cut the new ones to size and staple them in place....

When you consider the cost to tow the trailer to the dealer, your time and gas, the lost use time (while you still make 1 or 2 or 3 monthly payments) and the cost to return to the dealership to pick it up and take it back home, you're going to spend "SIGNIFICANTLY" more time, effort and money having those molding strips replaced under the "free warranty"....

If you're relatively handy with tools, you can do it yourself in an afternoon and probably do a better job than the dealer would have done. An "added bonus" is that your trailer is not sitting at the dealership, subject to be "bumped into, scratched, scraped or damaged" by an unknown person. Your batteries won't be "discharged to zero" over the time it sits not plugged into shore power.

If you're sure there's no water damage, I'd simply contact the dealer with the photos you posted here, ask them to provide you with the needed trim strips, pull the old ones off the trailer walls and either staple or nail the new ones in place. You might consider some adhesive to hold them to the walls, but I'd advise not to use adhesive because should the vinyl shrink again, you really don't want to deal with the damage caused by "chipping trim strips that are permanently glued to cheap luan wallboard"...

To me, this is a classic example of "what not to try to get done at the dealership"....

I’m with John. Send pics, let the dealer file a warranty claim. Then when the trim comes in you can take it in, or pick them up and do the repairs yourself. Keystone won’t pay you the labor, but I do know they will provide the parts free of charge.

I would suggest to you that doing the work yourself is by far the better way to go with something so simple. I've sat down with my service manager and GM to detail everything that has happened to my RVs while in the dealership - not a single trip....none that it comes back without something damaged that wasn't when it went in. It is the LAST place you want to send your RV for the summer to sit and have those trim strips replaced.

The other thing would be the hot temps you mentioned. Looks to me like heat has caused that contact paper to shrink and let go. "Hot" and contact paper adhesive do not work well together. When you get those new strips might look at a way to cover those ends to help prevent that.

Thanks all for the advice. Definitely not going to miss months of camping for this. Hopefully my dealership can get me what I need and I will repair on my own!!
