Quick fix for peeling furniture

May just be a solution for peeling furniture until it gets bad enough to replace.

I bought a roll of that "imitation Contact paper" from Amazon. When it arrived, there were "wrinkles around the edges" where the paper backing was already separated from the adhesive. I tried it, it almost matched the color/texture of the original "imitation leather" but where the paper backing had separated, the adhesive didn't stick very well and in about 2 weeks, it was apparent that I was going to have "a sticky back on my chair".....

I looked for solutions to buying a new $50 chair that would cost $500, and came up with a "Sam's Club Solution"......

I ordered a XXXL Hanes Tee Shirt, turned it inside out, sewed the sleeves and neck shut, turned it "right side out" and slipped the whole thing over the back of the chair. It covered the entire back, all the way down to the arm rests and with a little "tucking it in here and there" it is "about as attractive as someone wearing a XXXL tee shirt (belly and all).... That's not a "comment about fat people" just the clothes (tents) that fit them.....

Anyway, look at "making a $7 slip cover" as a "stop-gap measure" It's less frustrating than having your own tee shirt stick to the "stickyback surface" left when that roll of Contact paper falls off the chair..... YMMV

Good to know your experience..if I was putting that patch on I would cut the corners at 45 deg so it wouldn’t pull up so easily. The adhesive would be a problem though for sure
