Black Tank Vent Pipe

Last fall I discovered the toilet flange was cracked where it threads down onto the top of the black tank. Evidence suggests it’s been that way since it was built. So I have been replacing the rotted floor system in the bathroom this week, but came across something odd. The top of the tank is pretty flexible, which is ok. When I pull up on the toilet fitting, I can see the tank vent pipe going up as well. I am wondering if the vent pipe has some sort of slip-joint or flexible coupling somewhere in the wall? I really don’t want to tear open the wall, but there is so much vertical play in the vent pipe, I am wondering if there might be a fitting that let go?

Has anyone looked at how the vent pipe is assembled between the tank and the roof?

Well if not secured anywhere inside the wall it sits inside the roof fitting, but is not attached to that fitting. Is the fitting at the tank a glued fitting or rubber push seal?

The tank fitting is a screw-in flange and the pipe is firmly secured to the tank. Maybe pull the roof cap and see if there is movement up there? I might also be able to reach the pipe if I drop the skylight over the tub.

It looks like the vent pipe is solid from the tank to the roof. The pipe slips through the vent fitting on the roof so the vertical movement I was getting was the pipe slipping through the vent cap which appears as designed. Phew, one less thing to deal with!
