Slide Weight Rating
I have seen weights all over the place and I would like to know. Is there a place to look to see what my slide is rated for?

If there is such a rating, it is probably in the bottom of some designers desk drawer that has not been looked in in many years. Are you wondering how many people the dinette can hold or how much you can put in the fridge in the slide? I have looked at many units and the only ones that I have seen rated have been the ones with a rear bed slideout. Some have used 600 pounds and some have stated they are good for two adults. Maybe others have delved deeper into this issue but in 22 years I have not seen a rating on a side slide.

I don't recall ever seeing a document that certifies or even establishes a weight rating for any slide in an RV (other than some "outback type bed slides)...
I've heard through the years, when I've asked the question, that the weight limit is "around 1,000 pounds" but no dealer has ever produces documentation to confirm that claim.
Keystone, to my knowledge, has not published a rating for slide "maximum payload" or "maximum capacity'....
Sort of like the "walkable/not walkable roof rating".... What constitutes "how much someone can weigh to "walk on the walkable roof" and what person, if weighing more than XX makes "their walkable roof" not walkable.....
The more I learn about RV construction, the more I come to realize that "ratings in RV's are more subjective than objective"... I'm waiting to see the documents, never have seen the documents and beginning to believe that if I ever do see the documents, they will say, "certified weight rating is until it breaks, then you've gone too far"....

Don't know of any slide rating. I've seen bunk ratings though. A lot of course, would also depend on how that weight is applied. A 120 lb. teenager flopping down onto a sofa can be more damaging than a 300 lb. man who eases into a chair.

I am just looking for use. Our slide has a dinette that seats 4 and a couch that seats 2-3. I just want to know can people sit in all spots without worry? I weigh 260 pounds so let’s use that as a reference. Can I seat 6-7 of me in the slide without worries? Do I need support jacks?

Only real caution I would give is don’t sit on the slide unless it’s fully extended. The floor isn’t supported when it’s retracted.

We are careful around the slide. Thank you for that. I have seen some people with jacks under their slides before, even though they are less common then without.

I wouldn’t use any supports underneath the slides. They are designed to hold the weight without any additional support. Jacks underneath can cause damage if the trailer settles at all.

You'll likely cause more damage using slide supports than seating 5-6 folks in the supplied seating in/on the slide.
I was told using slide supports voids the warranty, true or false?, maybe?, maybe not?, but I wouldn't use them.
I'd also assume, we all know what assume means, that if there was a weight that was known to be too excessive for a slide that the legal teams of the manufacturers would require idiot labels plastered all over the slides.

Good points from all. Thank you. I am just new to a camper with a slide and figured I would ask.

I've never seen a "slide weight rating" either. I think, in my simple mind, that the slide is going to tell you....sort of like John said; if it fails it was too much. Like the holding tanks, tires, roof etc., - "listen" to it, watch it. The things in the RV have such suspect/minimal/unestablished/wacky limits, operation and coverages that you just have to let that particular "thing" speak to you....but you must pay attention and know how it works.
