The installer noticed that most trucks pulling this type of trailer have "4X4" stenciled on the rear quarter panel, so he did the math and used 8 screws.

No Dan it was only 8 screws. 4X4 = 16.

My point exactly. He wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer during math class. Not the best fixture installer either.

Have checked the other fixtures? Maybe that one didn't have too many, it's the others don't have enough.

Too many? Not enough? Eight holes = eight screws... After all, how many of us with 8 lug wheels would settle for 6 lugs on each? Not intending to be a wet blanket on the fun, but if there's a mounting hole, it should be used to mount the object.....
