Window Leaks

Hi All.
We are full timers in a Montana Big Sky, and have leaks in our rear crank out windows. Does anybody have any suggestions.

Thanks Rick

You didn't say how old you unit is. Those windows are supposed to have rubber seals around the edge of the part that goes out. They may be gone or worn out. I've never had to replace them, so I can't tell you how that goes.

One of the crank out windows on my RB23 leaks slightly during a hard driving rain. I spoke to our service manager about this and he stated the proper fix was to replace the window. Although still under warranty I did not want them to have to remove the window. I was more concerned about them creating more problems. He suggested I spray the rubber seals with a spray silicone which I have done. While spraying water from a hose directly at the area that leaked I can still get a little seepage. If this gets any worse I will purchase a roll of 3/8 wide inch foam insulation tape from our local HD Boutique and line the sealing gasket with same. Basically, you want something to further fill the space between the window glass and the sealing gasket. I'm hoping this will correct my problem which sounds to be the same as what you are encountering.

Zuley,

When you look for the foam tape to help fill the gap, remember there are two kinds, open cell and closed cell. The open cell will absorb water and pass it through, the closed cell does not absorb water and will help seal the gap without acting like a sponge.

window leak

Hey Brazos, you did not say where the window was leaking. on my previous 5er with square windows the leak was at the corner of the frame & gasket. Opened window,a squirt of silicone sealer in the corner cover with wax paper & close window. when good & dry remove paper, you have formed a new gasket in the corner(or where the leak may be)----Lou----
