Garage interior door has two latch spots

Our 2009 Raptor 3712TS has two holes for the interior garage man door, but the door only has one handle and no deadbolt. Did they screw it up at the factory, or is there a reason for there being two.

On our RV door, the deadbolt and handle's spring latch use the same hole. Is that not true on yours?

I suspect the second hole was a mistake?

The door/frame come as an assembly. Often the assemblies are used in a variety of RV's and some may have different options for locks but use the same door assembly. It's likely that the door you have is also installed in another type RV which has two locks rather than the single lock you have. It may not even be a Keystone RV that uses the door/frame assembly as Lippert sells to all the manufacturers.

You might benefit from going online and looking at pictures of the same model as you have that are for sale and compare with the locks installed on other units of the same model.

hmmm

my 2011 3912 has 1 latch hole but it has a plastic piece below it for the screen door. your pic seems to indicate that you don't have the plastic piece for your screen door, or does your door have one?

Could also be that the door frame pieces can be switched to be left or right opening, but most likely for a dead-bolt. JM2¢, Hank
