Tank valve locations

So we just moved into our 2017 courage 32FBS.... we bought it a couple of months ago and the dealership did go over ALOT of stuff with us... I think between that over load and the process of selling our house we just can't remember what all we were told.

We haven't even been hooked up for a week and when we went to go empty our tanks... we can only find one valve... has anyone else ever seen just having one valve to empty your grey and black tank? Or does someone have this model and it just has a secret hide valve somewhere?

Welcome to the forum!!
Courage? Or did auto correct get you and you meant Cougar.

Anyway, there should be a separate valve for each waste tank. Best thing to do is look underneath, and if there is two separate outlets then the handles will probably be real close. If you only have one outlet, then look along the frame on the drivers side for another pull handle. They can be behind the wheels, maybe up high and hard to see because of a slide.

There is nothing just the one valve. And it's under the slide...and between the label for grey and black tank. Anyone else ever seen this?

There has to be 2 valves and handles. Look at the underbelly material, is there a slit in it on the other side of the outlet? if there is then the valve handle fell off.

This is where it is on my 32FBS, next to the main sewer discharge.

Re: Tank Valve Locations

We have the 2016 32FBS and the blackt ank valve is under the middle slide. The gray tank valve is back further, same side, but a little harder to find. We have it labeled on the side of the trailer now so it is easier to locate.

Are you sure the valves are not in the outside connection center, maybe behind the door that you hook the water up to, also where the cable hook up is and maybe the outside shower. All of that is just inside my pass through compartment including two gray water valves and the black water valves.

I wish Raptors valves were in there! I plan on cutting in 3 black access doors in the lower black panel in line with the 3 valve locations so I don't have to stand on my head to get to them.
I also can't understand why Keystone went to the rear with black tank pipe from second bath as its no further to run forward as it drops out above center axle, and tie into the front black pipe...guess its maybe a .15 savings!

You should be able to take out the screws holding the underbelly for a better view without cutting anything.

Tinner12002,

Our tank valves are also "through the frame rail" and very difficult to get to without being "on your knees, upside down" which is not the posture any of us want to use at a dirty, wet dump station. So, like you're considering, I installed a door in the lower skirting on the trailer. It is easy to open, provides direct access to the valve handles and eliminates the "posturing at the dump station". There are some pictures of the door in a thread from back in 2014. You can find them in post #1 in this thread: http://www.keystoneforums.com/forums...highlight=door

I am guessing you have found the Black tank Valve by now? I have the same trailer and had the same problem.

Looking at the side of the trailer with the grey tank valve on the right. The Black tank valve is located just in front of the front wheel. It comes directly through the Frame. It does not angle down like the Grey tank.

Update.

In case anyone else reads this thread.

Since my last post on this subject I have found that although the stickers on the side of the trailer say that the Black tank to the front of the Tires and the Gray tank is in the rear, the fact is that the labels are wrong. It is actually the reverse. Grey in front of the tires and Black is near the back.

Purpose of threaded shaft controlling valves

Just a question about the threaded shafts on the gray and black tank valve mechanisms. Are those shafts for user adjustment to make reaching the valve handles a little easier? Thanks.

The shafts are threaded. You can buy aluminum threaded rod extensions to screw onto the shaft to make it as long as needed to place "through that little hole". They are "limited in function" in that they require a "straight line from the threaded shaft to the little hole"...

There are also "bowden cable assemblies" (flexible mechanisms) that screw onto the threaded shaft and can be routed around obstacles or make turns to reach "that little hole".

You can also buy "threaded couplers" and "threaded rod" at any hardware store and make your own in any length required, should you want to do it yourself rather than rely on the "relatively expensive aluminum threaded rods from an RV parts store.

Thanks. My threaded shafts are screwed into couplers and are not tight. They can be screwed in or out of the couplers as I please. Is this how there supposed to be so I can adjust them to my liking? The couplers cannot be turned.

No, they should be tight. Loose like yours are, as you tow down the road, vibrations will loosen them further and you'll wind up at the campground, unable to dump your tanks until you find a way to replace the extensions.

Get some lock-tite (red or blue), clean the threads, put a few drops of lock-tite in the holes and screw them on tightly. They won't come off until you "fight to take them off"....
