Turn off power to lights??

Hoping you folks know the answer. YouTube and Google not helping.

How does one turn off the power to ceiling lights in order to replace them?

Have just purchased a wonderful 2015 Bullet 269 RLS. Want to replace overhead ceiling lights, but can't figure out how to cut power to the existing ones. No breakers have any effect. The trailer is not plugged in to shore power.

Do I have to disconnect the battery?

The overhead lights are (in almost all cases) 12 VDC (powered by the battery and/or the converter). DC power is provided through the fuses located to the right of the circuit breakers.

You can disconnect power to the lights by removing the appropriate fuse or by disconnecting the battery and then turning off the converter circuit breaker.

The easiest way to disconnect completely is to unplug the trailer from shore power (the 120VAC power cord) AND then disconnect the battery cables (both POS and NEG). That way, even if there is a remote chance that you have a 120VAC powered light fixture, ALL power is removed and you can safely work on any of the overhead wiring.

Thanks. Was hoping it would be just flipping a switch on the breaker box, like in a house. But, alas, no.

Just wanted to take down one, so I could test the look of replacements. But, guess, it won't be such a snap.

Are your ceiling lights not operated with a switch? If so, just turn it off; that's all I do when I replace my lights. Or, as John mentioned, pull the 12vdc fuse (not the AC breaker) that powers those particular lights. Just like "flipping the breaker) as you were hoping but it's "pulling a fuse" instead.

Yes. Leave light on. Have wife watch. Go to fuses. Find one you "think" it is remove fuse. Light goes out you are ready to work. If not keep trying. Easy Peasy. Or as stated previously. Just pull Shore power and battery leads.

That was my thought, turn the switch off!!
Also they're 12 volt & usually have wire nuts connecting them, remove 1 wire, put wire nut back on that wire, repeat on other wire, same reinstalling, 1wire at a time.

I just replaced 12 ceiling bulbs and I, you guessed it, turned the switches off.
