5th wheel jacks

Do the landing gear jacks need to be serviced and / or lubricated? Mine are getting stiff, have tried running oil down inside of jacks but that seems to attract dirt which just makes problem worse.

Electric or hydraulic?

I used spray white lithium grease on my electric ones, others I know use WD-40. There's also some slideout lube that claims to not attract dirt, I don't have experience with it though.

My new hydraulic ones I was told to spray some WD-40 on a rag and wipe the rag on the piston (the part that moves). They said there's no need to use very much nor to do it very often.

My High Country's landing gear has a zerk fitting on the side of the tubes for the Acme up/down thread. For the top bevel gears I remove the top cap on each and use a glob of grease on my finger to lube them.
Happy Camping.

The Lippert landing gear on our Cougar have 2 zerk fittings on each upper leg housing. They are painted black and hard to see.
