Replacing strip between awning and roof

We were inspecting our roof this weekend and we saw that the area between the roof and the awning was quite cracked in places. We thought it looked like a type of caulking but a neighbour said that it's really a rubber strip that covers the screws that are there and that we can buy it in rolls. He said it was really easy to replace, that it just slides right in. But he didn't know what it's called so I don't know how to order it.

Does anyone know what this is called and has anyone replaced it before? Is it as easy as he was implying it would be?
Thanks,
parkgirl
