Reminded me of a time I drove my family from Sacramento to Tahoe. Upon arrival, I realized I was thirsty and opened my flip-top water bottle, only to have a high-pressure stream of ice water propelled through the straw and up my nose, and subsequently all over the dashboard and driver's seat. We call it "the Granlibakken experience". My RV Granlibakken'd me

CORRECTION!!!! I lost about 3/4" in frame height. Trailer's nose is slightly up. I'll have to adjust the WDH down one, but those I think are in 1 1/2" increments, so it would be slightly nose down... hmmm. Rather have the the tail end of the trailer up a bit than down. Too dang OCD for my own good.

2012 Alpine 3450RL... purchased new! Dropped the coroplast for a look see and not a lick of insulation from the rear axle on back - 12 feet! Not surprised, just disappointed.

I wonder if the workers at the factory get a bonus if they have extra insulation left over at the end of the work day? You know... an ata-boy!

That's standard with the "AntiArctic Package."

2010 Alpine improvements

1) Replaced kitchen tap with a tall spray nozzle type.
2) Replaced bathroom tap with a taller neck so I could fit my hand under the spout! Sink is ridiculous as well, but next summers job
3) Put air max vent covers over all fans
4) Fully skirted unit with EZ snap skirting, worked well but ridiculously expensive for snaps & parts
5) Replaced all interior incandescent bulbs with LED's to have less draw on electrical coming in, (had a problem where there was too much draw in a 30 amp site to run furnace and lights, with LED replacements, now have less draw and can have all lights on and furnace running at same time).
6) New battery, new 30 amp electrical cord to plug in with a lighted end, to see there was power there
7) Replaced door handle for Dometic fridge, (they are fragile so be careful)
8) bought a Emeril Legasse oven, (looks like a toaster oven), but works like a full size oven, we use it everyday! it is fantastic, just have to turn heater off when running it! Is a great cooking tool that makes RV living better!
9) 55" LG smart Tv we put on top of the retractible TV stand, Great addition!
10) also added the grab handle onto the screen door, (must have) really strengthens the door and is way easier to close using this handle!
11) installed a new 2020 Splendid washer/dryer combo, (it took a long time to figure out the cycles procedures, but eventually Nancy got er figured and it works fantastic now.
12) added a shoe rack up the wall beside the stairs, to enable 5 pairs of boots and shoes stacked up the wall for all year space
13) added a coat rack up the wall between door and dining slide to enable the hanging of up to 5 coats
This unit works fantastic and now we have all the comforts of home in our year round full-time living even in the -30 Celsius winters we get in Northern BC Canada

We dropped the coroplast and added extra R-28 insulation full length as there was 0 insulation throughout the underside of our 4 season polar package 2010 Alpine! Frustrating but as you say, better to be ready for winter than cold!

Ordered $6300. + worth of solar equipment, my winter project.

210w panels (4) = 840w total
Tilt mounts for all panels.
Misc cabling and tools.
100Ah 12v Battle Born batteries (4)
Victron 150/70 MPPT solar charge controller w/ BT
Victron Multiplus 3000inverter charger
Victron Energy Bus smart dongle
Victron BMV 712 Battery monitor

There are probably other items, but my mind is not remembering all of it.
Almost everything was a Cyber monday discounted price. Glancing at the receipts and my pre estimates I've saved about $720 as shown.
The labor is mine to own.

Replaced the OEM bathroom sink faucet (that had a short "neck" and thus made it hard to wash one's hands, too close to the backside of the sink bowl) with a high "neck" faucet. Holiday special at Home Depot: $20.

Actually Thursday and Saturday...

Mattress Thursday replaced the cheap %%% OEM with a Denver Mattress

TPMS from TST on Saturday... including the spare... Now I don't have to crawl under the trailer or slides to check the pressure.

And today, bought an 11 pound propane tank for the outdoor grill & Blackstone griddle

Added a Volt and Amp gauge to the power distribution. I want to see what my volts are and the amps I am drawing. Got it from Amazon. Easy installation.

Good idea! It appears this one measures AC only? I know there are different models to measure DC. Just wanted to clarify for anyone else that may want to add a meter.

Looks like someone were a couple of busy beavers. Hope your winter is warm and the mods and upgrades make you feel comfortable until hibernation is over.

I have the wireless monitor that displays the volts, amps, and any errors from the EMS. I would be very curious to see how close the two are, especially in amp draw. It might be worth my while at that cost just to see. I’m too curious with an OCD problem with the trailer.

Do you think the cheap chinese monitor is as accurate your expensive EMS? Personally, I would just trust the EMS

Added LP tank monitors so now I have an idea of how much is in the tanks.

Been looking at something for this. Let us know how it works. Did some review on it and get mixed reviews.

Drawer Slide Replacement

Earlier this year I replaced our crappy Capital grill in our outdoor kitchen with a 3 burner cooktop and wind shield/cover assembly. After a few uses, I realized the light duty drawer slides weren't up to the new combo as the unit would twist and want to come untracked.

I purchased a set of heavy duty (175lb capacity) lateral file slides and was able to install them today without much difficulty. Drawer operation is now smooth as silk and I can extend the unit completely without it wanting to fall to the ground. No more lost bacon!

We put on a set from Amazon - I was impressed this last trip. I thought I was doing good with gauges on each. Nope, This proved me wrong. If you do go this route, get their tank halos as well. Much better than the little aluminum things you get in the kit. Worth the $11 each. And the phone app tends to respond better than the little monitor. But you can use both.

After looking at the schematic for my Atwood He fridge I figured out how to add a switch to turn off the heat strip in the cabinet.
