Sway control

I just purchased a 2020 outback 330 RL. I am towing with a 2015 silverado 2500 HD. I purchased a second hand husky weight distribution hitch and it came with the sway control.When I picked up the trailer i was told that i didn't need the sway control with this size trailer. Total length of trailer is 37'10" and weighs 8800 lbs dry.

So question is do i use it or not.

A 38' trailer behind a truck with a 160" wheelbase ???? You'd be a "fool" not to use all the sway control you can get your hands on. The first time you get hit with a crosswind from the right and a 18 wheeler passing on the left, you'll fully understand just how unstable 40' of "square box behind a little truck" really is....

Any RV longer than your tv ABSOLUTELY needs sway control.
Whoever told you that has never towed a rv of any size any distance & should not be giving advice. So in the future ask questions here, not that person.

Whoever told you that was either 1) ignorant, 2) foolish or 3) trying to get you hurt. There is NO way on this earth a trailer that big should be towed by anything without a sway control. I don't know anything about the Husky, but for a trailer that size I would make sure I had one of the best out there...don't know if the Husky falls in that realm. Some folks seem to think that a 2500 is a "beast" truck and could topple mountains...it's not...btdt.

I have the same trailer and tow with a 3500 ext cab with 9’ utility bed Dooley. Haven’t traveled far towing new trailer was totally comfortable. Until this last weekend. I Traveled about 250 miles round trip with No real worries. No winds however. I did experience some trailer movement when big rigs passed me a few times. So I’ve decided to get a sway control system as a friend told me yesterday “you’ll really feel a significant ride control difference”. I would have never considered towing this trailer with a 2500 with out the sway controller. I feel the Dooley provides a more stable towing platform but after my experience with big rigs moving me on the road way I’m convinced a sway control system is an excellent addition to my truck
And a necessity for yours.

I believe the device is called a Weight Distribution hitch. It helps control sway movement as well as evening out the weight of the load on the tow vehicle.
