Cougar 26SAB Xlite! I have looked at them and they look to be a real nice 5ver for 1/2 ton towing. I have a Pullrite Superglide model 3100 hitch and I just got through lubing it with wheel bearing grease on all the moving parts. The way tubes take white lithium grease spray, don't know if you have this hitch or not, you didn't say the hitch type. The horseshoe on this hitch doesn’t require any grease because the pinbox and the horseshoe lock together and the only friction is when hitching and unhitching. I use some WD-40 spray on it and then wipe it clean and that's all it takes by the manual.

So I need to ask, I use the disk and I grease the handle that slides closed to lock and that's it. I had a 21ft light fifth wheel and now with my newer 5th wheel do I need to add grease anywhere else? I have some noise coming for the hitch when turning more creaking of shorts like I would expect with something that heavy. I would not expect it to be quite as a mouse or am I wrong?

I clean my hitch with soap and water every spring and reapply the grease on the handle, the hitch is about 8 yrs old but still looks like new always kept inside.

Thanks, Eric

I try to lube all the moving parts of my 5th wheel hitch. The creaking noise you hear when turning may be coming from your Mountaineer's suspension. A TT or 5th wheel is meant to travel in a straight line - not to turn. It doesn't "like it" and will creak and groan to let you know that!
