Flag Holder

I just got my 24RDS, on my first trip with it now. So far the wife and I really like it and have seen a few things we want to change up.

I want to put a flag holder on but am not sure if there will be any issues. I haven’t seen any like I am considering so I figured I ask in here first.

I want to use a holder, just like one used on homes, that I could bolt to the pin box. I took the pic to show the general area I’m thinking of. Would this cause any issue that would be regretted later? Of course the flag would be removed for transport and placed during setup.

Thanks.

I'm in for the responses, I'm interested too. I googled to see if there were any strong magnetic options, but it would involve some fabrication. I have considered making a clamp assembly around the king pin for the same purpose of flying a flag.

Any good ideas for non-5th wheel flag holders?

I've looked at all kinds of them over time but just didn't want anything attached to the RV. I think I'm just going to make one out of pvc like you see all the time so I can place it in front of the RV when parked then put it away to travel.

I have done precisely that to my last 2 fivers. Works great. Lasts long time.

I've seen some that use hose clamps to attach a holder to their ladder. I prefer to have something up front since most RV spots have you back in to park.

I also have a 30’ very sturdy pole that I zip tie to the rear ladder. I use the tuff cuff style extra large ones. Been working very well, even in seriously gusty days.

I have seen metal wire holders for flags that people stick in the ground.

When we had a TT I didn't have anything for a holder. I didn't want to poke holes into the TT sides. But with the 5r I don't think it would be an issue to put a couple self tapping screws into the pin box to attach a holder. I just have to check inside of to be sure I'm not poking holes into something I don't want holes into.

One reliable and not too expensive ($50) flagpole and mount is this one. It's easy to use, just put the mount under the tongue jack and crank your jack down to hold it in place. With 500 pounds of tongue weight (or more) holding it in place, there's little chance it will blow over. https://www.amazon.com/Flagpole-Go-U...8-3&th=1&psc=1

I always try to get pull through sites and just use Zipties to attach it to the ladder.

I installed a standard home flag kit exactly as you describe. Drilled the holes and installed with #12 (I think) machine nuts and bolts. No problems at all.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. I was thinking of using self tapping screws. But I guess the bolt and nut method would work just as well.

I have that setup, you can also put the stand under a tire, but I put it under the tongue. I usually put a piece of 2x6 between the jack pad and the flag stand.

I have used, and very much enjoy, Flagpole buddy products. Mounts to the ladder instead of the pin, but as I was unhitching today, I just read the sticker thing that says to not drill holes or modify the pin, so there's that.

Which ever method you use please remember to light your flag at night or take it down at sunset. Playing taps is optional!

I'll vouch for this option I've used this for over a decade tailgating. Where it can't be used on a trailer wheel (with slides and/or leveling blocks) the lift certainly will work...didn't think of that.
