Grill modification for quick disconnect

I have been struggling trying to get my portable grill to hook up to my quick disconnect on my 2012 Laredo. I'm hoping this solution will work but wanted to post in here before using it to see if i'm being unsafe or something else that i'm missing.

I have a Char Broil portable grill that has the standard regulator to hook up to the 1lb tanks. I bought the Camco control valve that is listed on Amazon that is actually designed for Olympian 5500 grills (since it's the only one i found). Obviously i was going to need some adapters and that proved harder to find than i planned.

After finding out the thread is an M12 with 1.5 degree pitch i went to the hardware store and bought that specific nut and a 1/2" x 5/8" x 1.5" steel tube. This slides in perfectly into the existing burner port.

Since i don't have any welding capabilities i used JB Weld to secure the tube to the M12 nut. I can now screw this onto the Camco valve and insert it into my Char Broil grill. I did do a water test overnight on the nut/tube combo to make sure there weren't any leaks.

Any reason to think this is unsafe or wont work?

Are you bypassing the regulator that came with the BBQ? you cannot have two regulators on the same line. You will not get the flow you need.

i removed the original regulator from the grill and replaced it with the Camco one that is un-regulated since the propane is already regulated after the tanks.

If it proved to have no leaks can't see why this would not work.

I ordered mine from this company for my Roadtrip grill. It worked great, not sure if they have one that would work for your setup.

I bought one of these, disconnected the regulator on my Nexgrill, hooked up perfect. Works great.

Verify you have the correct pressure for your grill. My grill is for RV's and is low pressure. It connects into the original piping. If I want to use my fish cooker I have to connect directly to the propane tank. Just a thought

well on to the next challenge on this project! I replaced the female quick coupler at the back of my TT with a standard 1/4" female QD (the old one was 3/8" i believe) from the local hardware store. I took my hose that i bought on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which says it has a 1/4" male npt full flow low pressure plug. Well, it locks into the female quick disconnect just fine but it's not allowing any gas to flow through. i feel it's just a hair too short and it's nor opening the valve on the female side. When i took a 1/4" male plug from the hardware store and plugged it in it allowed the air to move through (just a quick tent by blowing through it). So my conclusion is that the male fitting on my hose i bought isn't compatible with the store bought female coupler.

Are there different versions of the 1/4" male plug? any links to amazon where i can order it?

so i think i finally figured out what i've been doing wrong, the QD valve i picked up from my local hardware store i think is considered a high flow valve. The male plug on my hose i bought is a full flow hose (after the regulator) and therefore is not compatible with the store bought female coupler. I have since purchased a low flow female coupler and I will install when it arrives. i think this should solve my problems!!! hopefully!!

I was able to remove the regulator on my Weber Q and add a QC fitting in its place

I also added a QC coupler and hose that will attach to a regular BBQ tank, to the old regulator, so I can use it at home.

Did exactly the same to our Weber as it is the only one we have now so it moves from house to TT.
The Capital grill that came with the new TT came out and was replaced with an ice maker.
