New parasite?

Our Laredo has several LED light fixtures that are switchable to motion activated. This is a handy feature, but we are wondering if they are contributing to the parasitic drain. It would seem that the motion detector has to have continuous power to work?

Being a piece of electronics, yes there will be a very small power drain. Think I would be more worried about the power drain caused when the attached light is activated possibly falsely (no one around)

Thanks for the response. These lights are located in the pantry and the basement. I think we'll just switch them to off whenever we are without shore power.
I noticed that our 2-6 volt batteries dropped a little over1 Volt overnight (just parked in the driveway). More than our Cougar used to drop.

A 1 volt drop is a significant overnight drain. What kind of refrigerator do you have? If it's a Dometic, is there a switch to turn off the "humidity heater" in the door facing? That may, depending on the model and size, be a significant battery drain.

No switch on our Dometic. Have read about the mod. The refer wasn't running. I had disconnected the power because of lightening and the next day, about 20 hours later, the batteries were at 12.8 volts. That is what had me wondering about the motion sensor lights.

If the reefer was turned off, that wouldn't draw any power, so you must have some significant "other stuff" that's running in the background. A couple of motion sensor lights shouldn't (emphasis on shouldn't) draw much power, especially if they are inside a cupboard and not being triggered. They will draw a tiny bit, but that wouldn't account for a 1 volt drop in 20 hours. Hmmmmm

Well, guess I'll leave the power connected until I'm sure the batteries are fully charged then unplug the trailer and monitor the batteries for a couple of days to see what's what.

12.7 is a fully charged 12V battery. When a battery comes off the charger it will read high for a few hours then drop to its true state. 12.8 volts is 100%+.

Well there you go! Didn't know/think about that.

Reads 13.8 when plugged in - charging voltage. Reads 12.8 unplugged the next day.
