Happijack bunk beds

I know several members have had an issue with upper bunk failures or construction problems. I bought a used 2012 300MP Raptor Velocity. Previous owner (older couple) only used it 2x per the salesman. We took it out 2 or 3 times and called the dealer about the back rail sagging. We finally took it to the dealer 1.5-2 hours away for them to look at. They called Keystone. Keystone said they would cover it. Now Keystone is backing out of it saying they had outer rail issues not slat issues. If any of y'all have had slat issues and Keystone covered it under warranty please let me know and if possible send me some pictures. I know I don't have a mfg warranty on a used unit and the ext warranty I bought only covers mechanical issues. The dealer already checked with them and they denied coverage too. Seems they'd fix the problem since it is a known problem and the risk of having small kids fall through the bunk could be more costly for the mfg reputation.
Thanks for the help and replies.
Sorry for the long post
Ron

Seems all we use our top bunk for is storage (table, folding chairs, nic nacs ect) we have used the bottom one many times though without any problems.

happyjack bed

I bought a new 2012 300mp, and first trip with 120 lb daughter up on top bed, the front slat broke right in the middle, took back to dealer, and yes they covered it asap.

Thanks for the replies. Voicemail earlier today says camper is ready. I know there are others on here with the same issue. I'll send them pm's to see if I can get pictures for proof of other failures. I hope your daughter wasn't hurt too bad.

upper bunk strengthening project

When I initially bought my Fuzion 302 in 2008, I saw that the upper bunk was pretty weak. Addressing the weight-bearing capacity of the top bunk was my first modification.

I cut 1" x 4" boards to the correct length to fit side to side inside the existing bed rails. I used 1 1/2" screws to attach the new side rail to the existing rail. Then using "L" brackets, I mounted 3 additional slats to strengthen the bottom of the bed. I added some foam padding to kind of fill in between the original and the new slats.

That bunk held the weight of two 18 year old girls, maybe 350 # total, pretty good before I fixed it, but afterwards, I felt much better about the loading and it didn't sag any longer.

got rid of mine

our rig is just me n dad. I removed the upper bunk and table on my 3912. the table fell out on the first trip. I gained several inches in head room under the bed(NOTE: to do this you must modify and adjust the upper limit switch. ) I also removed the table and made a permanent bottom for my bed.

Yes I had this problem and Keystone had the Dealer repair it under warranty.
