Best place for watchdog ems

About to head out camping for the weekend when the delivery guy showed up with ym watch dog! Going to be a hot one some I'm worried about the camp site power so wanna install it before we go. I'm thinking of just taking to old junction box out and replacing it with he watch dog, ant reason not to? If not I'll run it up into the cupboard aboveClick image for larger version

I used the junction box spot for mine. Didn’t have to cut any wires.

I did the same thing. I converted the "mouse hole" to a twist lock connection at the same time. Figured while I was disconnecting and rewiring was a good time to make the change. Just a personal choice. I just didn't like the extra opening for mice and bugs, shoving a wet cable back in, or having the strain on pulling on the cable or having it pull on the strain relief inside.

That was the first spot I considered for mine. I changed my mind only because in my model I could see no obvious place to mount the display that was both functional and tidy. So I went behind the fusebox instead.

That’s why I got the one with remote display.

Yeah the watch dog has Bluetooth so that's why I got it! I eneded up putting it in there. On thing I noticed tho was it seems like the wiring in the camper is smaller then the cord. Almost looks like 12 gauge.

Considering you have space at the junction box, why not put it there. While you are at it, why not add plugs so, in the event you ever have to by-pass, you can simply unplug the EMS and plug directly back into shore power. I did this on my previous camper, but I did it with a portable one.

I continued using the original cord just plugged it into the protector. When I sold the trailer, I took the protector out and just plugged the original cord back in and fished the end through the mouse hole again.

Stranded wire will be physically larger than solid wire. If you're talking about romex feeding a 30 amp panel it should be 10/2 with ground.

Ah! I bought the Progressive, and they didn't offer that.
