Leaking slide motor gear box

We have a 2018 Dutchman Endurance with a leaking slide motor gear assembly which has caused damage to our slide roof. Difficulty with warranty department in approval of replacement of known defective part, only offered drip pan (bucket under a leaking sink) solution. Also refuse to extend warranty to cover future roof damage from leaking part. Told all their slide motors leak damaging oil, however never disclosed upon purchase of potential damage and fraudulently sold a defective part. Need advise on how to negotiate replacement.

Had same issue on my 18 Cougar fifth wheel. Add drip pans, replaced roof. Said if happens again, only cover patch. Don’t like sounds of that either. If that happens again, I will not be very happy.

Your dealership is your best friend in dealing with repairs for any RV issue. The documentation they provide to the factory is KEY to what the factory does. I'd suggest talking to someone that's knowledgeable on "all things warranty" at the dealership and discuss the issue with them, not from a "fix the damn thing" but from a "what did you provide, when and exactly what did the factory say" perspective.

You may find that the dealership did a "fantastic job" of relating the issue to the factory, you may find that their report only stated, "Slide motor leaking".

The factory is very often blamed for not supporting dealerships and warranty issues when in reality, the dealership's documentation will (not can) make or break the approval process.

So, before blaming "big old bad Keystone" for your problem, I'd suggest you first find out "EXACTLY" what the dealership reported for warranty consideration.

Same issue on our 2018 Montana High Country. Our dealer got us in right away and installed the drip pans and cleaned the roof before it was damaged...all under warranty.

It is a known issue and Keystone is aware. I have heard that they now install the drip pans at the factory on new rigs. So far just a rumor...I haven't confirmed. When I first called Keystone about the issue I didn't have any damage so they put me in touch with Norco, the manufacturer of the gear boxes. They sent me 3 pans right away. Then I noticed that my roof was bubbling under the pans on the interior of the coach since my slides are out all of the time except when towing somewhere. That made it a warranty issue and my dealer could respond.

If there is damage and you are still within warranty then John is absolutely correct...It has to go through your dealer and they need to advocate for warranty corrective action.
